vehicle description:

Ferrari Mondial 8 - 1982 LHD U.S Import
California import
All duties paid with NOVA letter
Needs re-commissioning and servicing to get MOT as been stored for many years then register (£80 registration fee).
Rear fog light will be required for MOT as not fitted to US cars.
Nero Black with black leather
Sunroof, Air Con
26069 miles
Never been welded and very solid/clean underneath with none of the usual rust, arches, sills, spoilers all good, few small bubbles on body panels which won"t require major work to sort other than a trip to the body shop, remember it is a 34 year old Ferrari which never had great corrosion protection, the car has had previous paintwork many years ago it seems.
Original Ferrari radio and speakers.
Most electrics working other than Windows which just click at the moment so may need motors stripping to remove old grease and generally service.
Very clean black leather interior with no rips or dash board cracking/shrinking.
Brakes all in great condition.
Fuse box stripped/cleaned and found to be good, fitted with new fuses and relays.
New Battery.
Lots of potential with classic Ferrari prices on the up, the first of the marque always becomes desirable.
Only being sold as need the space for another project which needs completing.
Cheapest Mondial/Ferrari available and great summer project for someone along with excellent investment opportunity.
Manual, parts catalogue and handbook will be included.
New front seat belts as originals stiff.
Some new parts supplied like seals, badges etc.
I bought this car to keep as owned one many years ago, this car although far from perfect is solid. Currently I have the interior removed to check for corrosion, clean and replace the front seat belts. I have found no rust hidden behind the carpets or in the rear quarter panels so have given several coats of paint and will wax-oil before putting back together later this week.
The Ferrari had been stored for many years prior to my ownership so will need some work to get it back to where it deserves, the engine ran fine when I charge the old battery but has since suffered the usual reluctance well known with old Ferraris which have not been used.
This car needs a good service and going through, I have started sorting things out like fitting new Bosch injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter and plugs. The hoses have suffered with the California heat and started to harden/crack, I have replaced quite a few already and continue to work through the age related issues. This weekend I fitted new Flywheel sensors and a couple more vacuum hoses and she fired up fine then spluttered and stopped, I checked the return line on the fuel accumulator and had a steady drip so the diaphragm has failed with age and getting disturbed after all these years ( I will order one before the sale ends).
I did a compression test when the car arrived to check engine health and all was great as expected with these miles, when running the car is quiet and sweet, the following will need doing though after having a good look today;
New distributor caps as quite pitted and worn so not helping the stating issues.
Full service to include new oils, and belts changed (Checked before trying to start and although they seem okay it was high on my to do list)
New battery earth cable as not great and on my list as Ferraris need a good power supply to run (Italian electrics)
The air pump has been removed although I have it but the rest of the pipework is still in place, my plan was to completely remove, if you wish to keep it the a replacement diverter valve is needed along with a couple pipes.(Not needed in the UK though).
Not sure what else is needed although I was going to re-baseline the car renewing things like the 35 year old coil packs etc to ensure reliability.
I have not drained the fuel tanks yet which would be a good idea as the old fuel could be part of the current running problems.
Given time I am sure with some more tinkering she would be running great again, only selling as I need the space to finish another project (1960"s Mini) when it comes back from paint.
This classic Ferrari would be a great summer project for a patient enthusiast to spend some time rather than lots of money bringing her back to it"s former glory, this has to be the cheapest Ferrari in the UK and with prices rising so quickly could be a last opportunity to get on the Prancing horse ladder.
I will try and up load some more pics this week as not planning on playing with the mechanics anymore just concentrate on getting the interior back in and giving the car a good polish up.
Genuine Ferrari Mondial fitted indoor cover available at extra cost.
Delivery can be arranged at £1 a mile (200 miles away is £200 etc) (UK only)
Don"t mind selling overseas but buyer to make all arrangements as I don"t have time to sort hence selling in the first place.
May P/X Lotus Elan M100 or similar.
Only bid if you are sure, if you need any questions answered then contact me and view if you wish. Please do not bid if you have any doubts, I have tried to provide an honest description but may have missed something so please ask.
Cash on collection or bank transfer, sorry no paypal for the usual reasons, pleas don"t ask questions like what is the reserve etc.
On 12-Jun-16 at 22:09:32 BST, seller added the following information:Note - N/S ( Left hand) intake grille has a broken fin, tyres have good tread but look original so should be replaced.
No service history arrived with the car and the door barrels need changing (£50 a pair as missing the key)
Only opened the sunroof half way when tried as it started to slow and did not want to get it stuck until investigated.
Headlights are not directional units so should be adjusted okay for UK use, I did take one to a MOT centre to enquire.
I will provide further update as questions arrive and try and get some better pics done later in the week.
The car is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction early if needed.
Winning bidder to make contact with 24 hours, car to be paid for within a week.
The car will be listed once only, if it does not sell I will get it stored and sort it when time permits and keep, I am currently looking for a storage facility.
