We are really sad to have to sell the Punto. The first owner was an elderly gentleman who had to give up driving, but had done a very low mileage and really looked after his Punto. Then we bought it for our student son - but don"t panic (!) we had a black box fitted by the insurance company so although he was a first driver, he has driven it really carefully, being monitored by satellite the whole time!! Sadly, though, it overheated on its way back to Oxford last week and is now making a noise in the engine! It does start and move, but would have to be transported as it would not make a journey. The sad thing is, it has been kept in such good condition, has no accident damage, and was regularly serviced, and has nearly new tyres! Also we have recently had a new power steering motor (£350). It sailed through the last MOT. When she broke down, the RAC took it to a garage in Oxford who shrugged and said don"t know what"s wrong, and it would probably cost too much to find out what"s causing the noise ! No help there then. So we have had her transported back to our house and really hope there is somebody out there who would like an incredibly cheap Punto who feels they can repair it themselves, rather than have to pay garage hours. Bear in mind it is one of the safest small cars of that age on the road, so is the perfect small car - that"s why we bought her. I am sorry we do not know what is actually wrong in the engine, but a mechanic would know what would be caused by overheating - that"s all she did, and before that moment she has always run as sweet as a nut. That"s why we are sad to lose her! I have put a very very low reserve on, as we can"t give her away for 99p, but we hope she finds a good home - she is too good to scrap! However, the bidder must collect with cash on collection - please don"t bid and then come along to see if we want it - do bear that in mind. We have an excellent local person who would transport if necessary. At present she is uninsured and on SORN. So, SOLD AS SEEN. No warranty given or implied! And cash on collection please, within 3 days of auction end. We would sell for a buy it now figure and end the auction early if a price is agreed.
