This is a really great Jeep that is only being sold because it"s just not getting enough use.
We bought this back in 2012 as a back up vehicle and as a work horse. The tow bar has never been used by ourselves but appears to be very serviceable for just about any towing needs.
The interior is finished in grey leather which is all original except for the drivers seat, this has been replaced with a near perfect matching item. We also have spares for the passenger and the rear seats which will come with the car.
The Cherokee is riding on General Grabber snow and mud tyres that have enormous traction when required, however the car will also have a spare set of 5 wheels fitted with standard road tyres in terrific condition. The road tyres ride more quietly than the chunky snow tyres for everyday use.
There are a few spares included in the sale such as a new set of rear brake shoes that have yet to be needed and a pair of new head lights, the originals are starting to need replacement.
We bought the car with a stack of old service receipts and mot"s going back forever, it even includes the original sales invoice for £24,145 less his part exchange 1994 Cherokee.
Since we bought the car in 2012, we have replaced a power steering hose, front pads, rear tailgate struts, rear shocks, V/serpentine belt, antifreeze, Battery, spark plugs, distributor, HT leads, crankshaft sensor and several oil changes during the 10,000 miles of usage.
The o/s sill has had a small section welded / repaired after being advised as weak at the last mot, it wasn"t a failure.
Negatives are only that the indicator stalk does not self cancel, the remote central door locking fob and the air con has never worked. The bodywork is in great shape for a 20 year old car but it does show it"s age with a few bumps here and there.
These 4.0 litre petrol engines are fantastic, they are a straight six, very under stressed with a over head valve design that doesn"t have a troublesome cambelt to worry about. Silky smooth and low revving, it"s no surprise that they are known to last well over 300,000 miles. Fuel consumption is around 25 mpg+ on a run, it"s less than a diesel but you will never have any costly diesel engine problems to worry about, just look up diesel injectors or diesel high pressure fuel pumps.
Lastly, the main reason for selling this future classic is that my darling wife has decided that I have too many cars, she may be right as I have a Grand Cherokee, it"s also a 4.0 petrol, a Mini and a MG plus her own Mini and our two kids cars to somehow park up every night, it is a bit of a challenge sometimes.
