vehicle description:

Great condition 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited in metallic Patriot Blue with lots of options ticked including heated leather seats, electric sunroof, electric memory seats, roof rack, tow bar with electric hook up and cruise control.
This car has full service history and 10 months MOT and has the lower tax bracket than later models.Full service history114k miles10 months MOTCam chain driven engine Last serviced at 113k milesBrand new Exide heavy duty batteryTwo set of keys Engine and maintenance
Last service carried out at 113,434 miles in March 2020 included an oil/filter change, air filter and coolant flush, replaced section of the exhaust, replaced lower suspension components, new radiator and cooling fan clutch ,steering track rod end and front brake pads.
The inline 6 cylinder 4.0 litre petrol engine benefits from being cam chain driven, so there are no concerns surrounding belt intervals. There is no rattle or under tension in the chain at all. No headgasket issues or coolant loss, sometimes seen in this engine.
The car has Quadra Trac II All wheel drive system with advanced low range function, far better than the basic version of Jeep’s AWD but comes standard on the limited.
The Automatic gearbox and transmission have no faults whatsoever, likewise there are no error messages or issues- it starts and drives perfectly, as you’d expect from an under stressed 4.0 tank of a car that is made to cover vast distances Stateside.
Brakes and tyres all have loads of life in them; the Dunlop AT20 Grandtrek tyres are brand new on this year and all in fantastic condition.
Cosmetic and bodywork
The bodywork is in decent condition with only a small patch of surface rust above the nearside rear wheel well (this is very small), it has some small dents and scratches but doesn’t look too worse for wear for it and still looks fantastic when clean and polished.
The alloy wheels have been powder coated this year and look like new, free of any kerbing or wear. Likewise, the all-weather tyres are like new.
Interior
The car benefits from the ‘Limited’ pack, features of which are the Quadra Trac II, auto full retractable sunroof, electric heated mirrors, electric windows all round, full leather heated and power seats, numerous 12V sockets, cruise control and has an upgraded Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth and handsfree function.
The leather seats are fully electric with memory functions, all working as they should. The drivers seats has a small wear on the right side bolster but this is not too bad.
Summary
The car is a reliable old bruiser, it has some wear and tear but runs and drives very well. As with any car of this age there are some issues of note.
The engine oil is the right grade on paper but the viscosity is too thin for winter, meaning on cold start up it’s a bit tappety. This isn’t an issue as the noise disappears when warmed up but ideally it needs another service with a thicker grade oil, such as 10W30. All Jeep forums recommend heavier duty oils than the OEM Jeep recommendations.
The central locking does not work from the driver door key, I know exactly what has caused it as it’s the same on all Jeep WJ’s, the 12v power wire in the passenger door that control the central locking unit for all doors breaks with time from repeated opening/closing and need resoldering, something I have meant to do and never got round to it- Google it, it’s the most common issue and pretty straight forward.
Directly linked to the above is a battery draw; if you leave the car for 3 or more days without driving it, the battery will run down- it won’t affect you if you drive the car regularly, but as I usually use the car on weekends only, I’ve installed a battery isolator switch. This way it never goes down.
The car has two sets of keys (doors and ignition key set x2), and is fully HPI clear.
I bought the car specifically to help me move, tow a small trailer for tip runs and generally be of use when I didn’t want to use my daily driver. It’s been fantastic for this, it’s a wallowy old beast and I love it. I’m in two minds as to whether I should just keep it forever for the ‘what if’ scenario, such as heavy snow or the next Ikea shop!
I have been totally honest as I don’t want to waste anyone’s time but in return ask for the same courtesy, no canvassers or trade please.
First to see will no doubt buy. The car is located in Ringwood, Hampshire.
