vehicle description:
Lotus ELISE S1 in Titanium.First Registered 1st September 200071,000 miles
Last MOT carried out on 4th May 2018, pass with the only advisory being Undertrays fitted
New Catalytic Converter fitted 15th June 2018, I went out for a drive in the car last weekend and there was a rattling sound from the exhaust, this was traced to the catalytic converter and a brand new one has been fitted, the old one had a catalytic core that had separated from the casing and this was the ratting sound. The car passed its MOT with the old one approximately 6 weeks ago so it was doing its job on the emissions, but was not perfect so it has been replaced.
Purchased by myself from Paul Matty sportscars in October 2016, and hardly used since, unfortunately with a young family I don"t really get the time to use the car as it was designed to be used.
The previous owner was Steve Copley (Editor of Autocar magazine) - The car can be seen in an online article by searching google for autocar ELISE s1 and then clicking on the link titled Lotus ELISE Cup 250 versus original Lotus ELISE S1 | Autocar
Non Standard features...... - S2 Seats fitted - Sports exhaust fitted - I think this is a genuine Lotus Motorsport Exige exhaust, but I am not 100% on that - S2 suspension fitted - 52mm throttle body fitted - Hurricane Induction Kit fitted - The car does have a harness bar fitted, and I do have a harness that was supplied with the car, but as I haven"t done any track days the harness is removed.
The bodywork has a few marks as you should expect on an 18 year old 71,000 miles car, but compared to a lot of ELISEs out there I would say this one is in excellent condition.
The car has an extensive service history including services at Lotus specialists including London Lotus Centre, Dick Lovett Lotus, Williams Autos, Steve Williams, Sportmotive and Paul Matty
As this is a car I was going to keep forever during the winter of 2016 the car underwent a massive front end refresh, this included the following and no expense was spared in making the car perfect...... - Front clam removed and cleaned fully inside and out - Complete clean of entire chassis and front end components, applied ACF50 - New Driving Lamp Brackets - New Driving lamp covers - Front and Rear grilles blasted and powdercoated - Roll bar blasted, passivated and powdercoated - All 4 wishbones blasted, passivated and painted with POR15 - Steering Arms blasted, passivated and painted with POR15 - Shock Mounts blasted, passivated and painted with POR15 - Tow bar post blasted, passivated and powdercoated - Items such as bonnet release, clam fixing brakets and anything else metal were at least basted and passivated, - Front Brake pipe along the back of the radiator replaced - Calipers painted black - New disks and pads - New wishbone bushes - New AntiRoll bar bushes - New balljoints - New Radiator, fan and jubilee clips (Old radiator and fan can be supplied with car - nothing wrong with them except they were 17 years old) - Fan unit cleaned, de-rusted and treated with POR15 - Heater box cleaned / sealed and rebuilt - All nuts and bolts for all suspension and steering replaced with correctly rated replacements - All clam / undertray / radiator etc fixings replaced with stainless steel - All 4 wheels refurbished - New wheel bolts fitted - Duralac / Corrosion Block grease / threadlock used as required in all areas as required when putting back together
Unfortunately after performing all of the work above and getting ready to start the car for the first time it became apparent that there was an engine issue as over the couple of months that the car was stood on axle stands all of the water had left the cooling system and had drained into the sump. The car was transported back to Paul Matty and a new head gasket was fitted under warranty by them, The car had driven perfectly before being refreshed and was not started after noticing no coolant in the correct parts of the engine. Whilst the head gasket was being done I also took the opportunity to have a PRRT kit fitted, and Paul Matty replaced the cambelt and obviously performed a service of the engine.
My plan was to perform a rear end refresh of the car over the winter of 2018, but family health issues meant this has did not get done - however I have a number of parts already purchased which will be supplied with the car, these include rear disks and pads and all rear suspension bushes.
