Number 6 of 11 limited editions built by Lotus to celebrate winning the GT World Championship.
Each limited edition was finished in Lotus Racing Green and fitted with lightweight sports interior finished in black leather and alcantara. The usual oven inducing glass sun roof was replaced with a colour coded lightweight composite panel that is completely removal for the summer Targa experience.
The car is running the S4S engine software – a significant improvement over the original software and comes with power steering and the desirable Brembo brakes.
I have owned the ESPRIT for the last five years and no expense has been spared keeping this car in top mechanical and cosmetic condition.
Mechanically, since I bought the car, it has been looked after by Chris Foulds Lotus specialist in Holmfirth and comes 4 good tyres, unmarked alloys and a mountain of service history, MOT’s and tax discs.
Cosmetically, the paint and interior were starting to show signs of age when I bought the car. Since then I have had ¾ of the car repainted (in the original Lotus Racing Green) by Lotus approved Northern Auto Bodies and the interior seats and carpets have been re-trimmed to original factory spec. Even the seat belts have been replaced with NOS Lotus ESPRIT seat belts. The stereo and speakers have all been upgraded (now comes with Blue Tooth) – however I still have the original cassette unit and that will also be included in the sale.
In an effort to resolve an intermittent ABS warning light, I have had the big ticket usual suspects replaced - the accumulator and pressure switch. This worked great for last year but since taking it out of its winter storage the intermittent warning is back. If I was keeping the car, I think I would remove the Delco/Moraine ABS system. It"s a pretty lame and many ESPRIT owners report improved braking without it.
The car is sporting a private plate L100 ESP that I am including in the sale.
The mileage is a little higher than some ESPRITs, but don’t let that put you off – take a look at some examples with half the mileage and then come and take a look at mine… you will not be disappointed.
The car has just been serviced and the timing belt changed. With 12 months MOT it is all set for summer fun.
