1987 Lotus EXCEL SE with the 180 bhp 912 reliable engine, recently professionally set up and tuned by a carburetor specialist and runs perfectly.
The car starts, drives and handles exactly as an EXCEL should with no functional or mechanical faults at all, MOT"d till 21st September 2015.
Exterior
The paintwork looks overall reasonable and shiney, from a few steps back, on close scrutiny it has a fair amount of chips and cracks particularly on the front bumper, but not enough (in my opinion) to warrant a respray just yet. To not cause disappointment on viewing the car i will describe the paintwork as in need of attention, 
Interior
The interior and seats are rather special in that at some time it has been professionally re trimmed in blue suede, thus not having the usual worn out seat and interior problems associated with these cars. Having said that there are the usual peeling on the front pillars and a few bits that need some time and glue to tidy up. There is a sunroof fitted to the front roof section, the rear roof section lining is sagging. The sunvisors have had it and need recovering, i will try and get this done prior to the end of the auction.
General
The car really is a joy to drive, i completed a trip around Holland and Germany last summer without any issues what so ever.Genuine reason for sale, I only purchased this car because my Lotus Elan developed a suspected head gasket problem a week before the Holland trip (which turned out to be the radiator), the idea was to sell it again when i returned, i"ve been hanging on to it ever since but cannot now afford to keep the two cars on the road so one has to go.
Any trial or inspection is welcome, the car will sell to the highest bidder with no reserve.
