Welcome to the auction for my 1982 Lancia Beta HPE 2000ie. I used this car for my on my daily commute until the water pump gave up, which was about 6 years ago. Since then I"m afraid to say it"s been stuck outside my mum"s house looking sorry for itself and deteriorating. I have to face facts and realise that I"m never going to get round to getting it back on the road (which be under no illusion, will take a lot of effort) so I"m selling it for spares, or a brave restoration. This is my second HPE, and at some point I"ll get another.
Before I started using it, it had:
- Cambelt and water pump- Discs and pads all round- Shock absorbers all round- 4 new tyres (Marangoni)- Oil and filters changed.
I did about 8000 miles in the car, and it drove very well. The mileage (48k) is believed genuine, and it"s had one previous owner. I don"t have any history with the car.
The car will start with a good battery, but I wouldn"t recommend running it for long as it"s got no water pump. There"s also a minor fuel leak.
As you can imagine, the biggest problem with the car is rust. There"s rust on most panels, the doors are shot, and it"s going to take a lot of welding to get it through an MOT. I can more than likely source some panels for you by separate negotiation, and other spares, but I feel it"s most likely fate will be for spares.
It does have some good points:
- Good engine, low mileage- Decent alloys- Good interior - I"ve even got the radio blanking plate.- Volumex steering wheel (and original)
It breaks my heart to see it go, but my mum wants her garden back. 99p start no reserve. Hopefully someone can find a use for it. Good luck. I can"t break the car for parts as I don"t have the time, skill, tools or inclination. If you have any questions, I"ll be happy to answer them through Ebay.
NOTE: This is a 33 year old Lancia that"s been off the road, outdoors, for 6 years. It has serious rust issues, and two faults that I"m aware of that I"ve described above. You won"t be able to drive it home. Please satisfy yourself to its condition before you bid. Just to reiterate - it will take a brave restorer.
I"ll add some pictures tomorrow, showing the car as it is now. I"ll clean it up as best I can before anyone picks it up.
