I have decided to sell my Defender 90 as I am just not using it....
I have owned it for about 2 1/2 years but it has not had much use for the last 8 months or so due to me buying a van. Other than the wheels and spot lights I would say it is very original. It has the 300tdi 380 gearbox (both standard) which from what I can gather is the most desirable engine & gearbox combination in a Defender. The 4x4 works as it should.
Its drives smooth and has no unusual knocks or bangs. It starts on the button every time usually no need to wait for the glow plugs. Being a truck cab, it is fairly quiet and the heater is quite effective (by Defender standards!).
The price of these Defenders is seriously going up - grab one now as an investment for the future!
Since owning it I have:
Fitted wolf wheels with Yokohama winter tyresChanged all of the oils - diffs, gearbox, transfer box etc.Engine oil, engine oil filter,air filter & diesel filter (done this twice)Changed the cam belt and tensionerChanged the fan belt and tensionerFitted a new diesel tankChanged most of the steering joints for last years MOT.
Recently painted the chassis
New door sealsFitted a stereo (mp3 player) it has the standard Defender speakersChanged the headlights for some decent ones (cant remember the make)
It is not without a few little niggles which if you are bothered could easily be rectified. I will be fairly picky when I list these as I personally hate to go and look at a car when it is not described correctly:
There is a bit of battle damage on the front right wing and the front / top of the bonnet (as shown in the pictures)Since putting the new door seals on, the doors require a really good slam. The drivers side is worse - I did try to adjust this but cheesed the bolts so before I completely ruined them I left it alone. I didn"t get round to ordering the bolts so this still needs doing.The windscreen rubber is quite badly perished and could do with renewing.The paint is quite dull and there is a fair bit of flakey paintThe rear tailgate has a tow ball dent in it where it has been dropped onto the tow ball. (I have some new straps on order to stop this happening but they haven"t turned up yet).I had a patch weld done to the chassis and at some time it has had a new rear cross-member.
Probably a couple of other things but nothing major.Scammers / idiots will be ignored. Viewing is welcomed but need to be arrange in advance as the Defender is currently in a secure compound at work.
If it sells - balance transfer is preferred.
