Hello and Welcome to the sale of a 1996 Land Rover Range Rover P38 4.6 HSE Auto.
I must start with explaining that this is not my vehicle and it actually belongs to a family relative who has replaced this car with a newer model Range Rover but at present is suffering from ill health and is not up to selling this car himself. I can assure you that I have his permission to sell this vehicle on his behalf. I am in possession of the V5 (logbook)
This Range Rover is now 20 years old, and has been in the same family since 1999, with the current owner taking into his possession in 2002. In total it has had only 3 previous owners, which is a rare find with an old vehicle.
It currently has approx. one month MOT, however it has only covered a mere 91 miles since this MOT!!!!!!, 50 OF THESE MILES WAS MYSELF COLLECTNG THE VEHICLE AND BRINGING IT FROM LIVERPOOL TO NORTH WALES!!!!!!!!!!
I am not in a position to MOT this vehicle so you will have to take this into your hands. It went through the current MOT without any issues, picking up only one advisory for an oil leak. I have had the vehicle for a week parked up and there is no oil present on the floor.
In total the vehicle has covered 117k miles again low for its age and especially low for a P38 Range Rover, this mileage can be checked via the previous MOT tests.
This vehicle drives superb with no knocking, banging, rattles or squeaks. The 4.6 V8 pulls especially well, with no odd noises,hesitation, or misfires. The V8 doesn"t not overheat and there is no evidence of head gasket issues, the oil and coolant are both clear of any mixture.
The Auto box works as it should, with quick smooth gear changes and kick down when needed.
With this being the HSE model it comes fully kitted, with full electrics that all work, heated and electric memory leather seats that again work as they should. The air suspension works as it should raising and lowering the vehicle when needed. This system received new air bags and compressor unit a few years ago.
The alloys are good condition, one could do with a refurb if I was to be picky, all four tyres have plenty of thread left on them.
I have had a good look over this Range Rover and I have also carried out a few jobs on the bodywork to try and tidy it up a bit. I have painted the front grill, headlight washer surrounds, front splitter, window trims, D pillar trim and under bonnet plastic trim. These were looking rather tired and have now been given a new lease of life. The paintwork has received a two stage machine polish, using Meguiars Ultimate compound and CLB Car Care Purity Polish, this has brought back the shine to the once dull paint work. The interior has been valeted, and the leather seats treated with Meguiars leather treatment. There are a few marks and blemishes on the body which you need to expect from the car of this age, there is a slight scrape down the passenger front door, some scratches long the bonnet and drivers side doors. If you have a look at D.A Detailing Wrexham on Facebook, you will see the progress posts on this vehicle (I run this business) I have taken time out of my business to help tidy up this old 4X4 for my relative but both him and I know it is what it is.
The top part of the tailgate is a replacement as somebody decided to smash the window, at the time the vehicle was in daily use so needed quick attention, so a window from a blue Range Rover was fitted, it doesn"t stand out that much as both the blue and green are very dark colours. The tailgate works fine, opens, closes and locks as it should.
There a few issues with this vehicle but again Its 20 years old,
The radio display does not work, the radio its self is fine and so is the disc changer, the only issue is you cant see what station your listening to.
The heater is displaying an error sign on the HVAC display, the heater will blow out hot and cold and the fan speed can be adjusted, however you cant seem to be able to change where the air blows from, the different position buttons light up but it does not seem to adjust where the air blows from.
When I picked the vehicle up I had to jump start it as the battery was flat, since jumping it, the SRS warning light stays on, the owner informs me that It didn"t do this before the jump start.
The vehicle only has service history up to 2002, after this it was serviced by the current owner, it has been serviced recently. I have checked all fluid levels and they are all ok. There is a waning on the dash for low brake fluid, again I have checked the level and it is fine.
The petrol flap will not stay closed, so its taped shut, I have not had time to look at this.
There is some slight paint fade on the bonnet, its not the worst I have seen but never the less its there.
There are few spares with the vehicle, there is a set of brake pads, an oil filter & fuel filter, bulbs and a new ECU (this was bought in error).
All in all this is a good, working 4x4, that can be driven away. I must remind you that it is 20 years old, and therefore you must take this into consideration.
