Find out where we are Crossroads Garage is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful, unique opportunity to own a genuine one-owner 1969 Lotus Elan Series 4 Special Equipment Fixed Head Coupe, finished in Lotus Yellow.
Reporting 118 B.H.P, a 122mph top-speed and the 0-60mph dash in a shade under 7 seconds, the S4 S/E was no slouch, benefiting from a close-ratio gearbox and servo assistance on the brakes to bring everything to an efficient halt.
It is a rare event these days, to happen upon an early Series 4 Special Equipment Fixed Head Coupe variant of the Lotus Elan made from the original body moulds, rarer still to find a one-owner example still used regularly by it’s original keeper until recently.
Lotus aficionados will be aware only the earliest series 4s enjoyed perfect door fit with similar gapping to boot and bonnet.
As a one-owner, unmolested example, enjoying virtually continuous use, the gaps remain the best we have seen, with the doors affording a reassuring clunk on closure!
All the hard-to-find, desirable items remain in place, such as speed-blade wipers, small thumb-latch boot handle, Special Equipment sill strips, interior chrome coat-hooks, dashboard, crash-pad and amazingly 1 key ‘fits all’ locks, boot and ignition!
As you can see from the photographs, cleaning and polishing the bodywork was never a priority, but maintaining the vehicle to an extremely high standard most certainly was.
The accompanying history file of VUW 898G, not only includes a plethora of old MOTs, but also numerous bills for work completed by leading marque specialist Miles Wilkins. Fibreglass Services (Miles Wilkins’ restoration company), were entrusted to carry-out a comprehensive ‘nut and bolt’ chassis, suspension and brake replacement/overhaul which was to include a replacement Lotus galvanised chassis and the majority of all replaceable components with Lotus O.E.M parts.

This wonderful one-owner Special Equipment variant represents a fantastic opportunity for someone to create a concourse example with the chassis and running-gear work already done.
