vehicle description:
For sale, my 2004 Lotus Elise 111S. I have owned this car for three years now, having bought it as the last of the light weight K-series engine"d cars. The torque spread from this VVC engine, coupled with it"s weight saving over the Toyota engine"d cars makes it the one to have. 0-60 times between the 111S & 111R are almost identical due to the close gear ratio"s in the PG1 transmission (with a Torsen limited slip diff), however the 111S lacks the weight of the Toyota engine, not falling foul of an air conditioning pump, power brakes etc. The series 2 111S gains some refinement over the series one cars, with carpets, a decent sound system, noise insulation behind the rear firewall and roof, and a carbon kevlar crash structure in the front. With the sublime handling and very impressive performance, I couldn"t find any soft top Lotus that worked quite as well for me. I extensively rebuilt this car just over 1000 miles ago, with absolutely no expense or effort spared. Here"s a summary of my history with the car:
Top end rebuild of engine, with:Payen double pinned elastomer head gasket (liner heights were perfect, so I preferred to avoid a multi-layer steel gasket for better sealing)New steel head to block dowelsNew Kamax head bolts (torqued and angled properly!)New upgraded stiffened oil rail (sump cleaned thoroughly and re-sealed with anerobic sealant)New water pump, cam belt, cam belt tensioner, auxillery beltRebuilt/timed VVC mechanisms160 forged pistons from standard, the liner bores still have their honing marks on them!Finishing/refinement of cylinder head coolant galleries - these are poorly finished with casting flashing from factory, they have now been opened up for better coolant flowSmoothing and polishing of exhaust ports - optically mirrored finish (completed by hand) - shown in pictureInlet ports left rough to aid in fuel air mixture (through tumble and turbulence)New NGK platinum spark plugsFully synthetic engine and gearbox oil change, with new MG oil filterNew left hand coil (right hand coil primary and secondary resistance perfect)All new genuine gaskets and seals - Payen exhaust gasket used to prevent leaksNew genuine Bosch alternator, with performance printoutNew gearbox output oil seals (genuine MG) - half shafts re-inserted carefullyNew coolant - no emulsifying of oil or coolant (always heated thoroughly before any real throttle used)The gearbox is slick, selects gears easily, doesn"t whine and has good syncromeshes. This engine has never suffered head gasket failure whilst in my possession (cylider head is original height and has not been decked), the above precautions should ensure that it never suffers a failure. Home made alternator heat shield - made from proper heat shield material, wraps around much better than the off the shelf shieldsNew ball joints, drop links, toe links & rods, track rod ends (TR gaiters/ARB bushes fine) suspension bolts all replacedNew ertacetal bushes (greased) on all four corners of wishbonesElise parts braided steel brake linesRebuilt front and rear brake calipers - new seals, anti-rattle shims, painted, and new brake/clutch fluidNew Bilstein dampers (factory original design - you won"t improve on them)New Eiback springs on all corner on all cornersPowder coated rear subframe Home made (on milling machine) toe link load spreading washer/braceAll steel components on the car under body (literally all of them!) shot-blasted, zinc primed and painted with POR15 hard cure paint (smooth black finish)Black powder-coated rims with new wheel studs and Lotus logo valve capsNew Toyo Proxy tyres all aroundNew dimpled and grooved brake discs, and mintex pads (still have flash grinding marks, no measurable wear)New window seals left and rightNew genuine Lotus badges front and back, new wheel centre capsNew Larini club-sport back box (all new hanger rubbers and gaskets) - sounds sublime!New stainless steel mid pipe (with flexy join) - manifold painted high tempOriginal exhaust included (freshly painted)All exhaust welds ground down to minimum thickness and smoothed to aid flowAll fasteners excluding load bearing or torque critical ones replaced with stainless steel (copper grease and loctite used where necessary) - EVERY fastener on this car comes apartK and N filter panel (original included)New wiper bladeNew left hand front/rear hubs (including wheel bearings)New indicator sealsNew inner/outer CV joints and boots (shaft centres blasted/painted)New hand-brake cableCobra alarm and immobiliser - with 2 sets of keys/fobs (with central locking)Tracker fitted - will need address changingGeometries set up on a hunter rigTowing eye, tool roll and soft-top bag presentHoards of paper work (original owners manuals etc) - receipts for all of the above mentioned partsThere is probably plenty of new parts that I"ve forgotten to mention. I have spent thousands on this car, and have done ALL of the work myself, aside from fitting the tyres and having the Geo set-up. This is probably one of the freshest Elise"s you will find, and really needs to be seen to be appreciated (every single thing works). The bodywork and interior are in great condition with very few blemishes, and the paint is the original Lotus Starlight black colour. The sub-frame suspension mountings and front tub suspension mountings are all straight and corrosion free (stainless castor shims added on front to prevent future problems) - don"t but ANY Lotus without checking these points.
Viewing is welcome and highly recommended. Test drives are welcome, providing the full cash amount is placed in my hand, and proof of insurance can be shown (no mention of trade insurance without proof, and no giving me your own car keys as security). Failing this, I will gladly take you out on an extended test drive - not just a once around the block. This is an appreciating future classic, and the last of a true breed of lightweights - you won"t be disappointed.
I"ve only ever used this car on the road however I"m certain it would make an excellent basis for a track car should you desire. I"m not desperate to sell, and only wish to do so as I fancy a Corvette C3 (please message me if you have one and wish to do a deal). Questions are all welcome, I"m happy to help.
Thanks for looking.
