vehicle description:

Some of you might have noticed this desirable car for sale a few days ago - the winnng bidder seemed genuine but as he is abroad cannot complete for at least three weeks.. As i have my own commitments abroad shortly the car is relisted with no reserve, starting well down on where it reached previously. This is a very clean car in top order so heres your chance, - the presence it has in the flesh astounds people..
Here we have a rare and desirable 2004 Elise S2 Sport 190, number 26 of only 33 cars at this spec produced by the factory motorsport division. This car is even more notable for its unique and striking factory colour (Chromacoat red) which shifts red to bronze to gold as the car passes by!
These cars represent the ultimate road legal track focussed version of the S2 with the bonus of the VHPD K series race spec engine..
Ive owned a few nice cars, including a 911, Noble, and a supercharged S2 Exige, but the Elise gets more attention than all of them – and let me tell you this car is so much more soulful than an Exige - which will perform well but has a Toyota engine with about as much character as a vacuum pump.
In contrast the 190bhp K series fizzes and howls amazingly as you surge through the twisties…
To summarise the fabulous spec of this highly collectable car.. K series race engine – forged pistons/throttle bodies/hi flow injectors/uprated ecu (more on this later) 190bhp@8000rpm
Limited slip diff
Straight cut gearbox
Uprated brakes
Adjustable anti roll bars
Rose jointed suspension
Adjustable Quantum zero shocks (new units fitted less than four weeks ago at over £1000)
Race seats/harnesses
Regarding the ecu, I happen to run a K series remap specialist service called Kmaps, which offers expert road/race upgrades to the MG/Caterham/Lotus world. This car of course is running a £700 Kmaps upgrade ecu unit which sees even better driveability than standard as well as improved electrical reliability (Lotus ecus are notorious for becoming faulty as the cars have aged)
The Kmaps unit is also fully reprogrammable allowing further optimisation should it be needed (rev limit/fuelling/ignition etc)
As an outline on this cars pedigree Ive quoted an online journalist review found recently…
‘The result of the Lotus special division input was, among other things, an 8000rpm redline, a fearsome bark from the exhaust and a ‘lively’ idle that prompts comparison with a terrier straining at the leash. But the impressive power increase (around 60 per cent over standard tune) wasn’t the only change; the LSP division also equipped a short-ratio gearbox, lowered and stiffened suspension, and upgraded brakes. When you consider the weight reduction (to below 710kg), you start to understand the sort of performance this package offers offers.’
I should mention there is insurance history from over 8 years ago when the car caught a post at parking speeds – a new clam was fitted as a repair and the car as you can see is in superb condition.
Recent service history is included. There is 12 months MOT, and the private "S190" number plate is included.
The cost of the new clam and in particular the cost of the specialist paint meant a Cat C repair category, giving you quite a bargain as ive reflected this in price (despite the cars as new condition..)
If you can find one of these for sale they easily see £25000 now..
