vehicle description:
1961 1340 Cosworth Series 2One of the few early Lotus retaining its original panels and frame.Originally a UK delivered car exported to the US (believed Service Personnel) in the early 60"s. Continuous ownership from 1966 - 2011.Garaged in San Diego, California during this period has assisted in the frame being extremely well preserved.Factory Certificate of Provenance confirming original individually numbered Weber 40 DCOE2"s sitting on original Cosworth inlet manifolds and a genuine Cosworth rocker cover (1/2kg lighter than the copies) and original Yellow Paint (2 sections preserved on each side of car.All correct instrumentation,Springall steering wheel, Sercks 5 gallon fuel tank (chemically cleaned), cast bonnet catches etc.Every component has been, rebuilt or replaced regardless of cost around the original frame/skin.Original workshop manual, seat back, hoodsticks and tonneau come with the car.The only deviation from original spec are later period S2 items, front disc brakes as per later S2"s and 13x4 1/2 bolt on Rubbery Owen wheels (period correct 13x31/2 Triumph Large Slot Wheels are available as an alternative)To assist with modern driving a limpet electric fan has been fitted and Aldon electronic ignition to a rebuilt (Distributor Doctor) Distributor. There has been a professional repair undertaken to the rear frame/panel which was damaged in the 1960"s when the Std 10 axle casing snapped (that casing is still with the car).If your looking for a concours car/trailer queen this is not for you. This is a nicely patinated example that has been sympathetically preserved and detailed. It recently completed 750 trouble free miles over the Goodwood Revival weekend. An overseas move for 2 years necessitates selling one of my 2 RHD Sevens or they disappear into storage.Payment by Bank Transfer
