Maserati’s Granturismo offers a sublime design that embodies all that is compelling and irresistible about Italian cars. The exterior has curves in all the right places with the car resplendent in all of it’s factory original Bianco Eldorado paintwork.
The Sport Line additions to front splitters and rear spoiler promote a performance layer over the elegant design, with the ‘porthole’ front quarter vents offering an aesthetic impact as well as aiding the extraction of hot air from the engine bay.
INTERIOR
This GT boasts an interior that offers a blend of sophisticated luxury and Italian craftsmanship; the quality of the materials and attention to detail are top drawer. The fine Bianco stitching follows the contours of the seats beautifully, with alcantara inserts showing tight and clean. The stunning steering wheel design is a unique triumph of luxury and performance with the MC paddle shift nestling behind. The grand touring moniker suits this car beyond most as four people can happily arrange themselves in the car, even with a six-footer behind the front seats.
The driving position is just like it should be; low set, well bolstered and superbly comfortable even for larger frames.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The F136 Modena derived engine develops one of the most glorious noises in production with a character that shifts depending upon requirements. With Sport mode engaged you hear and feel the full force of the wet sumped V8 although without the car reverts to type – refined and reserved.
Maserati’s intention was to deliver a well-balanced and comfortable driving experience however with the engine pushed back behind the front axle, giving a 47 front / 53 rear weight distribution, the car also feels resolved and predictable when pushing on.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The newly refurbished 20 inch Neptune wheels offer a fantastic contrast to the white bodywork with the famous Trident symbol centre stage. With new Pirelli P Zero to front the matching rears still show plenty of life left with even tread wear.
Braking is consistent and progressive, the Brembo six-piston calipers hauling the car down from speed confidently and with a minimum of fuss.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Graypaul in the summer of 2012 this Granturismo has only ever been serviced by JCT 600 Brooklands over the last 4 years.
The book back features all literature from new alongside the spare key. The car will be supplied with 12 months MOT.
