It is nearly 3 decades now since production of the ee90 corollas and they are now becoming rare with unrestored, original bodied, well cared for, low mileage, rust free examples becoming increasingly hard to find. Consequently these are the cars that are now highly sought after and it is these examples that are most highly desired, especially the four door saloon versions.
You would be hard pushed to find an original one at all, but one that has had just has covered just 44000 genuine miles, is in immaculate totally original condition and that has been loved, cherished and garaged since new - surely such a car can’t exist, can it?
 Actually yes it can, and it does!
 F349 DFL, the vehicle, has  never been smoked in. Consequently all the ashtrays and lighters are unused and the headlining shows no discolouration caused by smoke, in fact the interior is as new.
BODYWORK
The body/paintwork is superb, retains a fantastic lustre and is just immaculate

All the glass is original plastic and rubber external trim is almost perfect. Overall, the paint finish is that applied in the factory and is truly OUTSTANDING.
INTERIOR
The interior is exemplary; it is immediately obvious that this is an exceptionally low mileage car that has been cherished and never subjected to the elements for long periods.
The seats and carpets are unmarked and can only be described as new, the dash is not cracked and has not had any holes cut in the door, cards have not had holes cut and have not misshapen the headlining is excellent and not tobacco stained.
Everything works as it should even the original radio cassette player.
UNDER THE BONNET
The engine bay is exceptionally clean with original stickers in place.
No signs of corrosion and presenting only like a low mileage car can.
ON THE ROAD
F349 DFL drives exceptionally well and cannot be faulted. it is an absolute delight to drive without power steering and is very light to steer effortless  brakes well and handles perfectly everything works just as it should it is quiet, smooth, responsive and still has that as new tight feel

It is becoming extremely difficult to obtain an unrestored 20-40 year old car. By and large they were just not built to last in the 70’s and 80’s. However,  if you do find an original example that’s survived the chances are that, if looked after, it should last for many more years, after all it will only have lasted this long because it will have had little use and been extraordinarily well cared for previously. The same, unfortunately, is far less likely to be able to be said for a car that has under gone renovation.
I think that you simply cannot beat a straight original example of any item. There is a school of thought that believes that if you take something apart and then put it back together you are just recreating that item in a false attempt to make it as it was in its former glory, and that no matter how well a vehicle has been restored it can only be original once.
Whereas I know that many restorations are done to the highest standards I believe that there are far more that are not. Who really knows what skulduggery may lie beneath a car that has possibly covered hundreds of thousands of miles then been restored at least one time or maybe even more than once! In our view if a car has required restoration then by default it must have become worn out, tired and have most probably been neglected one thing is for sure a car that has been the subject of restoration, no matter how good will, almost without exception, lack the spirit and soul of an original example and probably cost 3 times as much to complete  and be worth less than the original when done!
