Selling my Peugeot 306 1.9 LX Diesel estate.
Car is located in Gillingham, Dorset, not Marnhull as stated above.
This has been a cracking car for me in the last 3 years. I am a window cleaner and it’s been ideal for carrying my ladders and having a very good boot space proved invaluable many times! I have finally saved enough to be able to buy a newer car and I am collecting it this week so the trusty Peugeot must move on.
 
The car drives well and isn’t a race winner but has always been reliable.
 
I will list the negatives first, none of these are shockers, just want to be as honest as I can, although if you are looking at a listing for a 17 year old car then you must be surely expecting to find a bit of a battle-scarred beast!
 
-2  tyres will need replacing before too long. Spare is nearly new.
-passenger front electric window temperamental
-passenger front door does not lock on central locking, will lock manually from inside though
-clock does not work
-rear wiper not working
-many small scratches/dents/blemishes to body, no rust though. Interior, although not terrible, is a bit tired, no rips in seats though.
-slight knocking from front corner, suspected ball joint worn
-3 doors have no door straps, so they don’t stay open by themselves very well
 
Positives
-MOT until November 10th 2015...only advisory was: “rear suspension mountings corroded but not excessive”

In my ownership I have done basic oil changes myself and also had the car serviced regularly and kept it up together because it has been my reliable work vehicle (receipts present):
Last 3 years it has had:
-Front and rear brake hoses
-subframe mount
-New battery late 2012, new alternator and tensioner in 2013
-New clutch
-New handbrake cable
Last service at 207077 miles in November: oil and filter, cooling system flush, new wheel bearing, air filter, 2 wiper blades.
 
Car only has one key, it locks the car fine in the door barrel, the remote locking worked fine but key fob battery ran out last year and I never got round to replacing it.
I bought the car on 181429 miles (now on 210600) and the previous owner used to drive it from Bournemouth to Newcastle every fortnight! He had the timing belt changed 7000 miles before I bought it from him but I have no invoice for this work. I took his word because he seemed a decent chap, and I just assumed he wouldn"t be taking a car all that way gambling with the timing belt snapping! With this in mind, it could be assumed the belt will be fine for another 20,000 miles as that would take it up to the recommended 50,000. This is not an assurance on my part, but as I say, I had no reason to distrust the previous owner.
