just over a year ago i was diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthritus in my spine (im 42) so i thought what car have i always wanted but never again will i be able to drive and yes you guessed it this came top of the list so i bought this little beauty, i have done maybe 500 miles in her but now my condition is getting worse i feel its time to pass her on to someone else to enjoy!
There is a story behind the car, it was built, used then then engine was rebuilt, later it was sold on nd ended up in a barn for a fair few years being stored, eventually it was sold on, recommissioned and i bought it!, since the engine was rebuilt it has done maybe only 700 miles!, so its very fresh and crisp, it makes the most gorgeous noise from the side pipes and it loves to be used.
The engine was bored 0.06 and rebuilt using a hi lift cam i have an invoice here for £3200, back in 28/7/00 i have had an offer of £12,000 for the engine alone as they are so costly to build these days!, please do not confuse the sound or performance of this engine with rover v8s jags or pintos!, this engine is linked to a four speed manual gearbox with HURST shifter. The carb is a GENUINE HOLLEY not a cheap copy and was fitted 300 miles ago being set up by a local tuning company on a rolling road, it has just been serviced with fresh oil, filter, plugs, cap and rotor, the battery is also very recent.
The car has had a new alloy fuel tank fitted, new tyres and i have had the bumpers re chromed, these are not yet fitted but i will get that done asap!
Being an older build the car has the odd small mark and a pitina about it that makes it look REAL and i am always being asked if it is, if you love to chat to people this is the car for you!, people turn round, stop, have there picture taken next to it, ask about it and one woman said forget women that car is sexy! that did make me laugh
The car could do with a few little pottering jobs done if you want perfection, the small wheel bolts are corroded, the rev counter does not work and the air filter top is corroded, its never bothered me as i like the aged look but just being honest
