Intro
Performance, luxury, practicality and value: Chris Harris reviews a Generation 1 Porsche Cayman 3.4S: http://bit.ly/2cOB5zT
I’ve meticulously maintained and cherished this vehicle. I hope that comes across from the depth I’ve gone into in this listing and my other listings. The car turns a lot of heads and is still, in my opinion, the best-looking Cayman S, in terms of condition and paint/trim options, that I’ve ever seen.
Ownership has been a wonderful experience and although I’ve not used it to its full performance capability ie thrashed it or taken it to a track, I have toured Europe with it (see photos) and used it to carry my bikes on various adventures. It’s always performed impeccably on longer runs, easily obtaining 30mpg, but is equally comfortable as a daily driver.
Reason for sale
I’m very reluctantly selling to save for a house deposit. The final nail in the coffin was a new job that included a company car. However, I’m in no particular rush to sell and I’ve spoken to a number of dealers and obtained valuations, so I know that it is priced fairly.
Additional photos
To view many more photos of the vehicle including close-ups of the wing mirror and wheel arch as mentioned below, and photos of some of the service history, please see http://bit.ly/2crgS1R.

Interior condition
The leather is in very good condition for a 10 year old car; the passenger seat in particular looks like new. The steering wheel and gear stick show some wear but nothing of concern.
The interior of both front and rear boots is excellent, with one minor scuff inside the rear boot. The warning triangle and tyre repair kit are in place in the front boot.
Electrically, the car is perfect, with the CD changer and SatNav systems both working perfectly.
Exterior condition
The car had a machine polish at Chartwells of Derby, who are approved Porsche cosmetic repairers, just over a month ago. There are no visible dents or scratches on the paintwork that I can see, and she’s just been treated to a new bumper, grille and front wing after a very minor parking incident with another car (no categorised insurance issues).
The only areas of attention I’d call out, that I’m aware of are:
some corrosion on the offside front arch (please see close-up photo). This just needs to be touched up and sealed;
two tiny chips on the windscreen (so small that I couldn’t get photos);
some rust on the wheel nuts (a known problem with all Porsches; the nuts can be repainted easily);
some minor marks on the offside wing mirror (please see close-up photo).
Mechanical condition and recent history
As stated above, I’ve spared no expense in getting mechanical work done on the car, but it has not required a lot. In the past 2 years:
May 2016: Cylinder ignition coil and all spark plugs replaced by Cavendish Porsche, Long Eaton, Derbyshire
May 2016: Amplifier repaired by Bergvill FX electronics, Hosle, Norway (5 year warranty included)
March 2016: Front alloy wheels stripped, repainted refitted and balanced (to prevent corrosion damage) by The Wheel Specialist, Burton-on-Trent
November 2015: Major service carried out, drive belt replaced: Aircon regas by Cavendish, Derby
November 2014: Oil change and front shocks replaced by Jaz, Wembley.
Notes
I’d welcome any questions you may have.
Prospective buyers (but not test pilots, space cadets or other species of time waster) are welcome to view in Shardlow, Derbyshire until Wednesday 28th September, and in Leamington Spa, Warks thereafter (I’m moving house).
Any photos depicting bikes, roof transport system or bike carriers are for illustrative, demonstration purposes only and do not in any way imply that such items are included in the listing.
The Roof Transport System, bike carriers and Marin mountain bike are however for sale separately; please see my other items.
