“Its a rally car so has minor dents and scratches. Last time out at Rally days in 2014 car developed an intermittent fault where it would idle fine but acceleration would sometimes be very poor also in high speed corners it sometimes affected pick up. not sure what problem is, no had time to fault find.”

Welcome to my auction for a Proton Persona Rally car. The car was fully funded by Proton for 2 years from 1996, with Highbury College Portsmouth building and maintaining the car. The car had many sponsors who supported the college students who built the car which first event was the RAC Rally in november 1996 driven by Highbury director Colin North who taught the students mechanics. It also did the RAC Rally in 1997 and 1998 and between late 1996 and 1999 it did over 30 rallies across the UK. Being sponsored by Proton it ran in the works team livery and was supported by Proton at a few events also. It was built to group N spec with a 1.6 engine, although V5 says 1.5 for some reason. It has an expansive roll cage going from rear turrets right through to the front suspension, with Leda gas suspension on rear thats fully adjustable and it handles really well on loose surfaces.  Mitsubishi Evo 3 vented discs all round. It comes with 4 original Compomotive wheels which 4 good wet style tyres. It has a 2l fire extinguisher which needs refilling and a thorough check through the lines. 2 Fibreglass FIA approved seats that are amazingly lightweight but both out of date. As mentioned above while using the car late last year at Rally days it developed a intermittent fault where acceleration was poor but then all of a sudden would be normal, its also bogged down on some high speed corners but not every time, the fault just came and went. Im sure its  nothing serious and just needs a bit of time spent. Just not had time to look for problem, Reason for sale is just not having time to use the car and enjoy it! It has only covered 3795 miles!! Yes you read that right, its a very low mileage car as it was only used for events and a little time on roads between stages. 
The Proton Persona is a identical chassis to the Mitsubishi Evo 23 so many many Evo parts fit this car and some parts are even stamped with Mitsubishi just with a Proton sticker over the top! So if you wanted you could change and modify car to Evo specs/engine.
We also have a 1.6 mitsubishi Colt engine with 77k miles that is complete with all ancillaries that comes with the car, a few spare miscellaneous spares, couple of bumpers.
Would be a good car for someone getting into Rallying, autocross, gymkhana etc and would good if it was returned to its original works livery.
