RARE 1990 Porsche 944 3.0 S2 Convertible/Cabriolet Barn find.
 
Where to start!?
GUARDS RED (Pink?!) - Linen Leather with Correct semi electric (NOW WORKING!!!!) seats.
Here for auction to the highest bidder is a 1990 Porsche 944 3.0 S2 Convertible/Cabriolet.
The car has been off the road since 1997/98 when it was last MOT"d. Since then it has been stored under a tarpaulin with one of the windows open. As a consequence, it has at some point been damp and from what I can work out, 90% of the local spider population moved in! 
Upon discovery, oil and water was checked, along with a turning over of the engine by hand to check if it was seized. Good news all round as water was present, oil was still golden and the engine was smooth and free. A battery was connected, and an additional boost pack was connected for some extra juice. 
Second turn of the key and it burst into life. lifters rattled slightly for approx 20 seconds and then settled into a steady idle!
Now, don"t be expecting this to be some hidden perfect gem you can just blow the dust off and drive! It has its ailments, and many spiders. 
The paintwork is best described as poor, likely in need of either some serious machine polishing or a respray. 
(Or a bloody good imagination and a friendly guide dog. Wonder if Stevie Wonder is in the market for a cab?)
After running thru most of the electrical items and copious amounts of emery cloth, sore fingers and contact cleaner, I have managed to get most of the electrical systems working. 
There are however, a couple of exceptions. My name is Louis, not Merlin! 
The wipers are inoperable. This is either a wiper stalk or the wiper motor. Now that I have vacuumed the spiders and leaves from under the scuttle panel, I will check this out over the course of this auction. 
The heater blowers only work on full speed. This is usually a resistor, but I haven"t investigated too far. 
The Roof. This is something that is beyond a mere mortal like myself, inexperienced in the black magic of convertible roofs. So for this reason, I have disconnected two of the arms that are connected to the motors. The roof is now manual operation. I pleaded with it, dodged spiders, screamed like a little girl when one crawled on me, and read internet tutorials on how to fix it for hours upon hours of my life that I will never get back. 
I can"t fix it. Needs a better person than I. (Honestly, I salute you people that work on those things for a living. To me it is like doing a rubiks cube whilst blindfolded, hands covered in baby oil, and being tickled by a friendly octopus) 
The roof itself is ok. Has a few marks and needs a damned good glean and treatment.The rear screen is as above. Intact, in place and see thru, but not split and still supple. 
The last couple of pictures are of Tim (local, semi tame, welding god) repairing the rusty outer sill section that was picked up on the MOT today. 
The failure sheet is available or the reference numbers are available for those who wish to peruse what little history there is available on the VOSA site. 
Main points to the failure are: 
Windscreen wipers Welding of sill - (Now completed)
The advisories are mainly brake related as you would expect for a car that has been sitting for 5+ years. Discs are pitted and worn, and brake efficiency is low all around with slight fluctuations. These are all related I expect and I would recommend they are replaced or at least skimmed. There is a slight judder when braking, I expect this to be lack of use combined with pitting and wear. 
I am more than willing to rectify the wiper issue and sell the car with a full years MOT. I am more than happy to do the advisory work as well, but this will be paid for by yourselves.
