vehicle description:

Hopefully someone can save an interesting car!
It’s a Rover 45 1.6 Club (4 door saloon) in British Racing Green 3 (pearlescent) with a rare Catkin green personal line interior option, only available on Club and Connoisseur models - cloth seats, door card cloth inserts and main floor carpet in green.
I purchased this car with the intention to use it as a loan car (perfect company colour combination for us!), but a complete lack of time to carry out refurbishment work made this impossible and now the space is needed too. The time has come to move her on, with luck someone will take her on.
Very early 45 registered on a V reg, but being a pilot build car the Clubspecification is all wrong – No front fogs, no headlamp wash, no heated seats, no sunroof, no single slot CD, but has four electric windows! With the VIN change point from Rover 400 to 45 at 471064, this one is 474167, so in theory this is 45 number 3103. One of those rare short lived Rover 45s built under BMW ownership of Rover Group.
It has matching personal line Catkin green carpet mats, dealer fit mudflaps and aftermarket parking aid.
With such an early build before project drive set in, all the good stuff is still present; top tint screen, real wood dash, radio cassette with remote display, wood effect door inserts, rear chrome kick strips, NSR wheel arch liner, lower steering column cover, glovebox flock liner to name a few...
It has two keys and handsets
Now the bad parts – The engine has been driven till its stopped, usual HGF (Head Gasket Failure), but now very low on compressions. With several fully charged batteries it will just about run! At the bare minimum, I suspect it will need a replacement cylinder head, if the liners are low, then a new engine.
I have also pilfered a few small parts, to keep other cars going of course! They are the heater blower motor, rotary coupler and SRS DCU, but they are all easy to find and put back with the exception of coding in the replacement SRS DCU with T4.
The paintwork is poor on the OSF wing, bonnet, OSF bumper corner and NSR door. I have purchased replacement panels in the correct colour which are listed separately.
It’s quite a project car, with a lot of work to do, but I am selling the car as a genuine enthusiast to hopefully another enthusiast with some time and space to restore her back to former glory. It has been dry stored since 2010, until a few months ago. I really don’t want to scrap her and break up for parts sold separately - I’m sure it’s worth a lot more, so with that in mind I’m starting at £170.
The first few photos are how it arrived in late 2010, but do not do the green interior justice. The last photo is of a somewhat dusty car!
The car will need to be trailered away, location Burton upon Trent. If you would like to come and have a look, please get in touch. Its been off the road and registered SORN since 2010, No MOT.
