vehicle description:

Rolls-Royce Corniche Mulliner Park Ward Coupe £19,995.00 Make Rolls-Royce Model Corniche Year 1970 Transmission Manual Fuel Petrol Engine Size 6,230 ccm Mileage 177,850 Miles Emission class -- The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was introduced in 1965 to much acclaim for its outstanding modern lines and advanced engineering. It continued to use the incredibly smooth and silent 6,230cc V8 engine from the Silver Cloud with 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission but now featured unitary construction with no chassis as such but with an integrated body and frame. This gave a strong and light structure and enabled the car to provide more internal space than the old ?perpendicular? models whilst being much lower, lighter and also somewhat slimmer and shorter. A modern improvement was independent suspension all round with an ingenious automatic self-levelling system powered by an engine-driven hydraulic pump with servo-assisted disc brakes as standard. Dignified but understated, the Shadow was an immediate success and sold very well, particularly in the United States. However, some customers demanded a more bespoke motorcar, so from 1966 Rolls-Royce offered a coachbuilt two-door Coupe which was joined by a Convertible version the following year. With fabulously elegant coachwork designed by John Blatchley and Bill Allen, each and every one was handbuilt by Mulliner Park Ward in a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks and resulted in a price some 50% higher than the standard Silver Shadow. Engine power also went up by 10% increasing the top speed to 130mph with acceleration to match ? 0-60 in 7.9 secs. Tweaks to the suspension and steering geometry gave a sportier ride and a special low-loss exhaust and new dashboard were also adopted. Only the very finest materials were used including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide and the best burr walnut veneers, making the MPW Coupe even finer and more glamorous than the saloon. Demand for these magnificent cars was so great that the waiting list was measured in years, not months, a state of affairs that resulted in them being given their own model name, Corniche, in March 1971. Supplied new in February 1970 by Jack Barclay of London in Alpine Grey with a red vinyl roof and a Scarlet hide interior, this Mulliner Park Ward Coupe is one of only 600 made before the model was re-named as the Corniche. It has had just three owners from new and was first owned by a Mr AH Dallimore with addresses in both the Scilly Isles and Craignish Castle in Argyll, Scotland. Dallimore kept the car until 1986 and used it extensively, his two far-apart addresses no doubt accounting for the fact that it clocked up 100,000 miles in its first two years, the clock currently showing some 177,850 miles. The current keeper acquired the car in 1994 and has used it rather less often, old MOTs showing that it has only covered some 5,000 miles in the last 28 years, having been mainly kept in storage for the last dozen years or more. it appears to be in generally good condition with a particularly well-preserved and attractive red leather interior. PLEASE NOTE! THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT GOT AN MOT AND DOES REQUIRE WORK THAT IS WHY ITS PRICE PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT IT IN SHOWROOM CONDITION, AND IS A FIXED ROOF NOT A CONVERTIBLE. THAT IS WHY IT IS THE PRICE IT IS !!!!!! Although the service book is missing, it comes with a very large file of invoices showing meticulous upkeep from new until 1985 (at 159,362 miles), various old MOTs from 1989 to 1999 plus the original owner?s handbook and warranty card, still in the original wallet. The personalised and transferable number plate is also included and no doubt has a value of its own.
