Having recently purchased a 1952 Triumph Mayflower I have decided to reduce my collection of "modern classics". The first to go is this very clean and tidy Rover 214 SLI which has covered just 54000 miles from new with plenty of supporting documentation such as receipts and old MOT certificates etc.
The car is MOT"d until next May and passed the last test with no advisories once the rear exhaust silencer had been replaced. As you"ll see from the pictures it is in good cosmetic order with a near perfect interior, virtually unused boot area, mint engine compartment and genuine Rover wheel trims which are also in great condition.
As was usual for the Rover brand, the car is extremely well equipped with front electric windows, electric mirrors, electric SLIde and tilt glass sunroof, power steering, adjustable steering column, remote central locking (with alarm and immobiliser) and a radio-cassette player complete with security card. Also present are two sets of keys and one remote fob. The tool kit in the boot comes complete with the locking wheel bolt key and still sits within the original polystyrene holder and covered by the shaped hardboard panel.
The car starts readily and performs well with no evidence of any head gasket issues - the temperature gauge reads correctly, the cooling fan cuts in and out normally and the coolant level remains constant.
The clutch pedal is a little on the heavy side and drive take-up is fairly high although it currently drives ok without SLIpping. Personally, if I was keeping the car I would probably budget for clutch replacement at some point but a careful driver should make it last for quite a while yet. 
Bodily, the car is in pretty good order although the forward section of the rear wheel arches would benefit from a little tidying. Otherwise, apart from the usual selection of minor parking dings etc there are no apparent issues.
In summary, the car is a 21 year old Rover 214 which won"t disgrace itself at classic car meets, is now a fairly uncommon sight on the road and should provide cheap daily motoring if looked after and correctly maintained. The car is available for viewing in the Wolverhampton area of the West Midlands and payment terms are cash on collection only.
