2002 Rover 45 TD Turbo Diesel
Regrettably the time has come to allow somebody else, hopefully another enthusiast, to enjoy my Copperleaf 45. I have broken the advert down into sections below:-
The Essentials:
- Over 12 months MOT, expires 20th May 2017. I wanted to get this done before sale to ensure it is sound for the new owner. It requires no work as far as I am aware.
- It is taxed until next year although I believe the new owner will have to tax it anyway with the new rules. - Log book is present in my name along with lots of other history and paperwork. - 2 sets of working keys and fobs.
- 2.0 turbo diesel Rover L series engine.
- 5 speed manual gearbox.
- Easily returns over 50 miles per gallon and has plenty of pulling power.
Specification:
- Metallic copperleaf red paintork
- CD player/ radio with USB, SD card reader and aux input
- Electric sunroof with very rare sunroof deflector
- Electric windows front and rear
- Electric heated mirrors with the desirable chrome covers
- Pre project drive model (project drive was Rover"s cost cutting measures as production went on) so better build quality than later models.
- Upgrade 16 hairpin wheels
- Colour coded side skirts (most have black plastic) Enhancements: - Suspension springs and matching dampers from an MG ZS. This eliminates the boat-like handling of the 45 whilst maintaining comfort, providing more stability during motorway driving and maintaining standard looks.
- The L series engine is running standard power however for reliability the two common problems have been addressed. Number 1 of these is the EGR valve which has been properly de-activated with a purpose made plate (they commonly stick open causing loss of power and can gunk up the intake). Number 2 is the MAF sensor which commonly fades, again causing loss of power. The ECU has been re-calibrated to run without the need for this expensive problematic sensor. Just to stress, these changes are to run standard power, not a performance re-map. Service History:
- Just had an oil and filter and air filter service a few days ago using decent semi synthetic oil.
- Service book is present and has 5 stamps. Owners manual and original leather case also present.
- Has then been home serviced with numerous invoices to back this up. There is proof of at least 3 more oil services.
- Clutch, battery and brakes have all been done in the last 2 years and the previous owner confirmed with a garage that the timing belts were done 2013.
- Every MOT certificate present since 2009
- Every tax disc present since new.
- See picture which shows all paperwork. Condition: - Mechanically the car feels sound as to be expected. The engine pulls really well, all gears engage as they should and the clutch feels fine with no slippage. Everything works in the car with the exception of the air con, I suspect it requires a re-gas but the sunroof makes up for that. Any trial or inspection is encouraged.
- Cosmetically I would describe the car as very straight and way above the average 45 many of which have unfortunately turned into un-loved workhorses. There are of course some minor blemishes as to be expected with a 14 year old car such as some small stone chips on the front bumper and some superficial marks elsewhere- nothing alarming though and there are certainly no dents or gauges which jump out at you. Condition is very subjective and I am airing on the side of caution when describing it so it is best to have a look yourself and make your own mind up but I suspect you will struggle to find a straighter one at this price- if you want detailed photographs of any particular area I would be happy to oblige. S ome of the pictures show it at this year"s Pride of Longbridge event (Rover Mecca) where is got quite a few complements.
I"ll be sad to see the car go and I really hope the new owner will look after it. I can"t see any reason why it wont give many more years of service if looked after.
This is a private sale so there will be no form of warranty implied or given, that said, I want whoever buys it to be completely happy with what they are getting so you can arrange any trial or inspection you like within reason and I would be happy to take people for long test drives etc.
