2001 Skoda Fabia 1.9 SDi Quick summary. Full 12 month MOT until 24th September 2014. 6 months tax. Almost Full Skoda service history Timing belt change in last 3 months. >60 MPG! Detailed advert For those who don’t already know, The Skoda Fabia is basically a VW Polo, I’ve done a fair bit of work on this car, and everything under the bonnet is stamped with VW/Audi logo’s, so be assured of the build quality. This car is fitted with the incredibly frugal and legendarily reliable VW 1.9 SDi engine, as used in a number of VAG cars and vans. The car currently has 125k miles, absolutely nothing for a VW SDi engine. First off you must be aware this car is not fast, its fine keeping up with traffic, and will even reach illegal speeds on the motorway, but a sports car it is not.  However what it lacks in speeds, more than makes up for in MPG.  I’ve been using this car for commuting for the past 3 months, on the way to work, which is mostly country roads and town driving, I can easily get 63MPG average.  On the way home which is motorway at 60mph, I regularly see 75mpg average, if you take it easy 78mpg average can be achieved (see picture taken last week on my journey home). The tax is cheap, £110 for a year, the insurance is very cheap, and the amazing mpg, this is a very cheap car to run. There are a couple of bad points, the car is 13 years old, thus has some paintwork chips and scratches, the worse is the front wing near the indicator (see picture), and some minor marks in the interior, sometimes immediately after starting you get a ‘woo’ noise from the starter motor, it’s a common VW fault to do with the tiny starter cogs not disengaging quickly enough, its nothing serious so I haven’t paid it any attention, there are two advisory items on the just passed MOT, rear springs corroded, and rear sub frame bushes worn, I’ve had a look myself, and they all look perfectly reasonable. I bought this car off a work colleague’s parent, the old boy really looked after this car, it has full Skoda service history up to the time I bought it, any advisory item on the MOT he replaced without question, including new front suspension springs last year (sadly no receipt). During my ownership of the past 4 months I have done a fair bit of work on the car, including. 1.       Oil change, 2.       Oil filter, 3.       fuel filter, 4.       cabin filter 5.       Thermostat 6.       Gearbox oil change 7.       Engine Temp sensor (common Fabia fault) 8.       Auxiliary drive belt 9.       Full Timing belt replace including all tensioners, idlers, and water pump. 10.   Coolant change 11.   Hydraulic valve lifters 12.   Replacement Power steering pump (common Fabiafault) 13.   New, drums, shoes on the rear. For most of this work I have receipts. I’ve also had the AC re-gassed, however it can be temperamental, the fault lays with a sensor under the dashboard, I have purchase a replacement sensor from Skoda, but have yet to fit as 90% of the time the AC works fine, and it really works well, icy icy cold. The engine runs sweet as a nut, the whole car drives really well. The car has a full 12 month MOT having just passed this week. 6 months road TAX included with the car. This is the comfort model with Climate control & AC, electric front windows, and electric heated mirrors. There is an aftermarket CD/mp3 player fitted, gives good sound out of the standard speakers. The car originally came with steel wheels & hub caps, I have purchased a set of Skoda alloy wheels as I’m not a fan of steels, both sets of wheels will come with the car.  The alloys all have good tyres on, the two steels on the front (as seen in the pictures) are nearly new tyres so I’m using them up first before fitting the two other alloys. There is an additional spare steel wheel with a good tyre. The only reason I am selling this excellent little Skoda is frankly it’s too slow for me, and I’ve just bought a Celica, and sadly can’t afford to keep 2 cars, otherwise I would as this is a perfect commuting car.   Please come view the car.   You are welcome to inspect the car to any standard you wish, please be aware I am neither a professional mechanic nor a car dealer, I know of nothing wrong with the car, however the car will be sold as seen with no warranty given or implied.
