Hi, here is our very tidy Smart Fortwo Brabus. (Arnold)
First the bad.
I am advertising Arnold as spares or repair. He has an issue with the steering gear paddles. The previous owner did tell me about the issue and that he drove the car with the paddles disconnected as it was faulty so it was never a problem for me. Connected, he will drive for a while with the paddles (1 day, a few days or a week) and then 3 lines appear. - 3 lines showing on the dash, indicating a transmission fault - Drives fine without paddles connected but this leaves another snag. The horn and airbag are also disconnected. Again it never bothered me but it makes my missus nervous. The price of a new steering wheel I cannot justify being a Yorkshireman and not a boy racer. It’s highly likely that someone could refurb or repair the old one though.
The roof doesn’t close fully. Everything operates fine, mechanism works perfectly and it pulls evenly on both sides but it looks like the roof has shrunk. I am told contraction is normal with these roofs and it may close up in the summer. I’m not too sure as it is quite a gap. I am also led to believe there is a way to adjust the cable tension but I haven"t tried. Summer’s coming so it will probably be wound down most of the time anyway !! There is a car park chip/split on front wing Anyway, there you have the faults. I have to mention them
Arnold is a true Brabus (as opposed to a Fortwo with Brabus bits bolted on.) He had a remap by the Smart club (previous owner) has 12 months mot, (there are a couple of advisories) Under 90K miles with lots of previous mots and receipts for work done that backs up the mileage. Recent JVC stereo. Uses no oil or water.
He still has the Smart tyre sealer and inflator too!
He currently has a private reg number. It’s not my thing so will be staying with the car
Currently on sorn.
