Smart For2 Model 451 (57 plate) Late 2007
We"ve had this vehicle since new.
This is our 4th Smart - love them.
Unfortunately, due to business expansion a few years ago we had to buy something bigger and the Smart was taken off the road mid 2014 just after we had new brake pads on front & shoes and drums on rear with the idea of keeping it as a fun 2nd car. It"s hardly turned a wheel since. Each weekend was going to be the weekend I"d do something about putting it back on the road but never got round to doing it.
A couple of months ago, I bought a new battery and fitted it and it started first time. Unfortunately it would not select any gears so the car would have to be trailer-ed away. I"ve since read on various forums that it could be a problem with damp getting into the gear selector switching.
This vehicle has had a full body wrap since it was new so the body panels are all in really good condition. I"ve just taken the wrap off this week to take the pictures.
As I can"t drive it due to the gear selector problem, it has no MOT.
Road Tax is £30
Only problems I know of is the exhaust rasps a bit - could be baffles? Didn"t stop it going through the last MOT. The tyres have tread on them but with not turning for nearly 18 months, it might need a set. Apart from that I don"t know of anything else that would stop it going through it"s MOT.
I wanted to "trick" it out a bit with taking off some of the panels and the doors and putting roll bars in etc but the business is taking up 7 days a week at the moment and I don"t see me getting any time do work on it for at least the next few years.
