Starting with the standard equipment: *Electric heated mirrors, heated windshield wipers,windows, sunroof.*Central locking with key remote (two keys)*ABS*Electric heated front seats *Climate control*Power steering*Half leather
I own this car since August 2015 and it was used as my daily driver/project. Many upgrades and repairs completed since with the biggest one in summer 2017 when engine has started consuming oil and I have decided to rebuild it. I will try to include all the information about the work completed (with approx. date of work done in brackets).
Engine:Engine rebuild starting in November 2017 and fitted in March 2018. Since then car has done 3500 miles. Initially runned-in on mineral oil and switched to full synthetic 1k miles ago. No evidence of any oil consumption so far. The whole process of rebuild was documented with pictures (see below description). Parts used for the rebuild were strictly Subaru OEM or better (receipts available). Engine was rebuild on ej205 short block purchased from MAG Engines. Head work was completed by Ashley Wilks from Wilks Engines in Shipley. That included hot bath, 3 angle valve cut and skimming. Head gasket used was Cometic MLS. Brand new OEM Subaru head bolts. New Dyco timíng belt during the engine rebuild was fitted and the rest of timing kit parts (all rollers, tensioner and water pump) were replaced in 2017 so they were re-used. Every single seal and gasket was replaced with brand new Subaru OEM parts.Upgraded Turbocharger to the WRX TD04 that was fully rebuild using Genuine Melett CHRA with ported and polished housing on both intake and exhaust sides (during engine rebuild).Upgraded bigger aftermarket intercooler with custom fitted OEM Forester BOV but will also accept WRX BOV plug and play. (during engine rebuild)All coolant air and ventilation hoses were upgraded with multi layer silicone hoses and Stainless Steel worm drive clamps to replace standard Subaru rust away, snap in half spring clamps.TGV fully deleted with welding and machining the divider plates + CEL deleted from ECU. New OEM oil pan with welded stainless steel hose barb (capped at the moment) for future air/oil separator return if ever needed to be fitted. (during engine rebuild) Pan is double coated with enamel paint for future. Old pan will be included if needed (bit rusty but nothing major still can be easily refurbished). Custom diamond aluminium skid plate for engine protection. Performance panel air filter from Ram Air (washable).All spark plugs replaced (during engine rebuild)Engine loom insulation cleaned and repaired (during engine rebuild)WRX engine mounts (during engine rebuild) Exhaust:Cat-less Classic Impreza Scorpion 2.5 Stainless Steel mid straight pipe with 3to 2.5 stainless adapter to fit to down-pipe and relocated mounts for fit Forester setup (stainless welds). OEM Newage STI backbox with nice not too loud note (end of 2016)OEM Newage STI exhaust manifold with OEM catless up-pipe, Stainles steel 3 sport cat downpipe with wideband o2 sensor (standard bosch) fitted for future remap. (end of 2016)Exhaust temp. sensor deleted + ECU delete (end of 2016). Brakes, Wheels & Suspension:OEM 4 POT fully rebuild front calipers with stainless steel pistons (new seals etc.) painted red. Brembo discs all round, Mintex pads. (summer 2017)Rear self leveling suspension shocks deleted with KYB shocks and matching springs from Pedders to avoid suspension slacking. (end of 2016)New front KYB shocks. (end of 2016)New front wishbone fluid filled mounts. (end of 2016)New front and back anti-roll bar links.(end of 2016)WRX 17 alloy wheels refurbished with chrome extended wheel nuts and upgraded hardened steel longer wheel studs that will accommodate large variety of wheels .All tyres are Toyo Proxes with plenty of thread left. (summer 2017)Carbon steel wheel spacers fitted (they are made from old WRX discs) to match the exact OEM Forester wheel dimensions (since the WRX wheels have less ET and it would give too little clearance form suspension shock). Drivetrain:New pair of rear drive shafts (replaced to find out that they did not need replacing as the noise was coming from self leveling shocks, the old, OEM and still good shafts will be included with the car). New driver side front drive shaft what splitted (parts of the old one will be included for future rebuild if ever needed). Both front drive shaft diff seals replaced. (end of 2016)Automatic Gearbox is standard and well known 4eat, not the fastest and most desirable box but well build and very reliable. I will include a free gift: reconditioned central differential with brand new friction discs to upgrade the transmission to 50-50 power split as in original form the power transfer mostly to the front + a modified gearbox hydraulic controller unit that will give much quicker gear changes and switching between PRND. The whole kit is worth around £350! (see pictures below) At the moment the gearbox is in OEM state.Brand new engine coolant radiator/ATF heat exchanger (during engine rebuild). Other:Kenwood MP3, USB, AUX headunit. Infinity Component SpeakersFront doors were stripped and very well sound deadened, Infinity separate speakers mounted with tweeters in mirror covers. Oxygen free speaker wires used, everything soldered and insulated for noise.The whole car floor (including boot) was stripped and insulated with sound deadening bitumen pads and covered with layer of professional soundproof sheet material plus foam sheets for extra comfort. (3 layers ! ) Passenger side hand brake line was replaced for last MOT New Windshield fitted in 2017 due to large chip. Windsheild washer bottle was upgraded with facelift one and is now inside of the front bumper to create more space under hood (much easier to change the spark plugs now). I have not connected the headlamps washer hoses and harness plug to the washer bottle as I was planing to delete it all together but it is all there and can be connected if desired.Spare wheel (never used) and tool kit included.
Car was never raced, never written off or stolen.
Things that need doing :
Engine needs to be remapped to reach his full potential. The car runs fine now but it will be a lot better/faster with professional remapping. Never got round to do it as another project took over priority.
Cosmetic:
Brake calipers could do with another coat of paint just in case
Front and rear bumper could do with detailing or re-spray.
Car body is in decent shape and what you would expect form the car of this age/mileage. No significant dents (only few small dents form other cars doors at car park) few small scratches here and there.
Cruise control on/off light does not work when switching but the cruise control works perfectly well so this never bothered me.
If desired, gearbox upgrades with the parts I will include with the car which is a moderate level DIY job and it would be a good idea to change ATF at same time.
