Up for sale is my 1988 TVR 280 S1 in Ash Green with Grey (Half Leather?) Interior, didn"t think I would be selling this but needs must as our Mortgage is up in a few months and the Endowment is a bit short, I have another Classic vehicle and one had to go......
Starts easily, first time, runs nice, goes through the gears well and the brakes are good.No strange noises at all either.
I bought this last year as a long term keeper with the intention of a rolling restoration as all seems fairly original and not messed about with, the interior is a bit tired but everything seems to work on the TVR and can certainly be used for Spring and Summer fun as we did last year. All I have done since I bought it was change the Oil and Filters, flush the coolant/antifreeze and replace, change the fan belt as the other was slack and importantly had a set of 4 x new Tyres put on, the correct Dunlop Sport Blue Response. Also managed to source and fit new front Indicators and Rear Light Clusters as the others had cracked.
The Roof is in pretty good condition, I suspect that has been replaced at some point down the years. The paintwork also looks very good. In the past I suspect the car was well looked after as the invoices I have from early years include chassis rub down and wax oil etc. Also have original TVR Handbook and service schedule along with some history although there are gaps in that, probably down to one or two bad previous owners amongst the seven former keepers? Also have lots of old MOT certificates etc.
Current MOT is valid until 15th June 2017, currently Taxed but new rules mean any new owners need to apply for Tax.
This TVR S is an S1 and has a Ford 2.8 V6 Engine, starts first time and sounds fantastic, as all TVR"s do. The exhaust has a bad join and that probably needs looking at, seems like the local Plumber has tried to help out in the past.....
I have never experienced any mechanical or overheating or water problems, plus all gauges and lights work, plus all other electrical parts as far as I am aware, the windscreen wipers work but are slow, a forum I go on has a couple of fixes to try for this but I have not looked at it.
You will see from the photo"s that the engine bay has not been loved for a while, looks dirty and oily, sounds good though when ticking over and also when revved, does not drop oil or water although the engine looks like a gasket or two may need changing. Also the pipes for the cooling system look old and one is weeping a little bit. Best idea would be to come and have a look, I have a pair of old ramps if you want to have a good look underneath, a previous owner has had some welding done to get through an MOT which you can see on the MOT history.I am not a mechanic so cannot vouch for the car, if you want the AA or RAC to inspect at your expense then please get in contact, I can be flexible with times and work close to home.
V5 present in my name and at my home address.

Will be advertised elsewhere to increase the exposure, not in a mad rush to sell so not needing any silly offers - would get more in the Spring/Summer but need to get over the emotion of it all by then!!
