vehicle description:
Welcome to my auction for my cherished, if neglected TVRCerbera. The TVR Cerbera is one of the finest handmade British supercars ever made (in my opinion!), and a lucky turn of events enabled me to achieve a long held dream and purchase one for myself. The car was first registered on 1st November 1996, and has the 4185cc TVR AJP V8 Engine which, when new generated 360hp. I bought this car in September 2007 from a "gentleman" (berk) who had just put the car through an "MOT". Unfortunately, the "MOT" was not genuine, and in order to make the car road worthy, I spent in the region of £6700 with the excellent Dulford Automotive near Collumpton to put right the many wrongs. The works were carried out to a very high standard, and included a complete set of Gaz shocks and springs, new alternator, new camshafts, and a new diff. I still have all the paperwork. Because of this major expense, I could not fund the annual costs of running such a finely tuned supercar, and after three and a bit years, the TVR was laid up in December 2010 following a number of silly electrical problems which prevented me from using the car, such as the door control box not working (the doors are opened electronically - there are no door handles) and the immobiliser staying immobilised. These are common problems for these cars, and are easy to sort, but the continued expense prevented me from doing so. Now, after almost 4 years, I put in a replacement battery, hooked it up to a booster pack, and the car fired on the first press of the button! The engine runs and sounds great, although would obviously benefit from a full service. The brakes stop the car, and the clutch works and so the car can be driven onto a truck for removal. There is a major coolant leak which I believe to be coming from the steel pipes which look old and in need of repair (see photo). The windscreen is becoming delaminated in the top right hand corner and will need replacing. There is some blistering in the lacquer above the headlights, and a couple of very visible scratches on the paintwork. There are also some stains on the paintwork that I would expect would polish out. There is surface rust on the parts of the chassis that I can see (again, see photo), and I would suggest that the rest is in the same state. I have not poked around with a screwdriver to see if there are holes, but I would hope not. The door release control box is not working (again) and so you have to use the emergency entry procedures... The last time I replaced the box, it cost £100 and there are just 3 plugs to fit in the boot. The interior leatherwork is in good condition for its age, but the other fabric trim could do with cleaning / replacing. The carpets are household where present, and could do with replacing with genuine. There will be other problems with the car, which I have not yet found. The current mileage is 53088. I have done less than 2000 miles in it since purchasing, which have undoubtedly been the most expensive miles I have ever travelled. But also the most fun! The engine is brutal, and the handling and response through the controls unlike any car I have driven before or since. This car has the potential to put the biggest smile on your face! A good friend of mine used to enjoy following me in the dark so that he could see the flames coming out of the exhaust pipes on the overrun....!! This car will be a labour of love. You will need deep pockets and either a good mechanical and electronics knowledge, or know a good mechanic. The journey to putting the car back on the road will be long, but very worthwhile. You will also need a garage to keep the car in as the fact that it was handmade in Britain invariably means that the car leaks in the rain. This car is not an insurance right off, and is complete (with the possible exception of half a dozen bolts that hold some of the engine bay plastics in place). This is a GENUINE 1p start auction, with NO RESERVE! Tell your friends! I need to sell this car and it will go to the highest bidder or for the buy it now price. I will not take an offer whilst the auction is running. If you have any queries, please call me on 07843 447603 as my internet is not working. You can come to view the car in South Devon if you wish, and can hear it run for a short time, but a test drive is not possible due to the water leakage and the fact that there is no Tax or MOT. The winning bidder must be able to collect the car on a transporter or trailer. It cannot be driven away. Please bid to buy, not to kick tyres after the auction. I would like the car removed within 2 weeks of the auction ending.Payment is to be made as cash or bank transfer, with funds cleared before removal. Good luck!
