EXTERIOR
This Chimaera is finished in the beautiful Crimson Starmist paintwork which looks stunning under our showroom lights with a sharp metallic flake and a deep glassy shine. The paintwork is in excellent condition with no stone chips to report. The charcoal soft top looks fantastic against the pearl paintwork and remains free from any tears or damage. The plastic rear screen is completely clear with no cracks or fading. All of the window rubbers and seals are in fine order throughout the car.
TVR’s can often become diagnosed with chassis issues; the example shown here benefits from a recent anti-rust treatment.
INTERIOR
Opening the door on the TVR (using the button situated under the wing mirror) you are presented with beautiful upholstered Magnolia hide, a lovely contrast to the rest of the car. All of the leather and stitching remains in excellent order with no damage to be found. The spotless Burgundy woollen carpets piped in Magnolia adorn the foot-wells with door cards and rear shelf section remaining free from any wear.
Sitting down into the car you feel cocooned by a combination of the low sports seats and a high transmission tunnel typical of the manufacture. Looking ahead all the dials are clear to see and everything falls to hand wonderfully, from the aluminium topped gear lever to the wooden wheel.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This is the top engine in the Chimaera range and there is no mistaking the Rover V8 gurgle upon start up. The engine dominates proceedings with a torque rich delivery making fast progress effortless. With a major service carried out earlier this year, along with a new fuel pump and filter at 40k miles, the car has no issue with a cold or hot start.
The 5 speed manual gearbox feels tight and precise to operate through a new clutch installed last year by Sussex TVR.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The distinctive 7 spoke 16” alloys are finished in a deep Anthracite grey complete will all TVR centre caps.
Tyres are Brigestone Potenza on the front and Toyo’s on the rear all with good tread depth. The brakes pull the car to a stop sharply with the discs show no signs of pitting or scoring.
HISTORY FILE
The TVR was first registered in April 1997, with the supplying dealer TMS TVR and a subsequent pre-delivery inspection stamped in the booklet at 23 miles. The next two services were also carried out by the supplying dealer.
This Chimaera has been serviced at the correct intervals throughout its life, with 15 stamps in the ring-binder and various invoices to vouch for its truly superb condition. Furthermore this example benefits from a recent cam-shaft change – recommended on Chimaera’s at this mileage delta.
The original black leather handbook containing the owner’s manual and service booklet is present along with a spare key and all MOT certificates.
