Due to unforeseen personal circumstances I now have to sell
my beloved TVR S2.
I love this car so much I actually bought it twice!
I first bought it about
7 years ago, I spent a huge amount of time and money upgrading it then and
after a couple of years of enjoying it I sold it to fund buying a campervan for
my son and I to spend more time together. But I sold it with the proviso that should
the buyer sell it in the future he would offer it back to me first.
A couple of years after buying it the new/interim owner
Mike, decided to sell as he had been offered a supercharged jag that he
fancied. I had really missed my TVR so I jumped at the chance to get ‘my’ car
back.
In the years since I got the car back I have done yet more
work and even more expensive upgrades including only a few weeks ago spending
over a thousand pounds on having a brand new one off alloy fuel tank made and
fitted and new high pressure injection fuel filter.
I have also just done a full service, including new genuine
rotor arm, distributor cap and plugs.
I have just had the car MOT’d and it flew through with no
advisories, it starts and runs beautifully.
Sadly though I have now lost my safe storage space and it is
a condition of my very good and relatively inexpensive classic car insurance,
that it is always garaged overnight as I live in inner London.
The S2 is the one to have. An S (2.8) may look the same and
be just as pretty but is a far inferior car, not only does the S2 have a far
superior and far more powerful 2.9 engine (170 Bhp instead of 150 Bhp!). The
chassis and suspension on the S2 is also improved reducing weight transfer and
‘dipping’ (squat) under acceleration, greatly improving grip and handling!

a couple of years ago had complete top end rebuild when water pump and front cover replaced, cylinder heads off, de-coke, timing chain,
fit new studs, new water pump, change oil and filter, new water
hoses and clips, new anti freeze, new spark plugs, crank seal, cylinder head
gaskets, etc etc... £1035
Very solid never repaired and never needed repairing, rust
free rock solid chassis. (I took pictures last week when being MOT’d so you can
see how good it is underneath
Only faults are;
the carpets in the foot wells were really tatty when I got
the car, so I ripped them out and never bothered to replace but as it is a very
small cockpit it would be cheap and simple to have new carpets made up if you
wanted them.
There is a chip in the bottom front corner of the driver’s
door, very easy to patch and paint but it has never bothered me so I have never
bothered.
The doors do not currently stay locked, I had to take the
door cars out a few months ago to rewire the electric windows which were
tempermental and did not always work,
now they do but I must not have adjusted the inside door catch rods correctly
which are in the door cards when I replaced them. Again a straight forward fix.
Lastly, I don’t want to sell my S but I have to, so it is up
for sale as a winter bargain, the S series cars have double in value in the
last couple of years and will only continue to rise in value, there were only a
few hundred of these cars ever made and this is a really good one, your money
is much better off in the S than in the bank that is for sure! You won’t be
disappointed with this fantastic car, and also I’m 6’3” and fit in it
comfortably so you probably will too.
This is a fully sorted and 100% reliable fast fun car and I
would be 100% confident to get in it right now and drive it across Europe and
back without a hiccup and only need to put fuel in it, that is how sorted it
is.
The pictures are very recent being taken at the Alexandra
Palace Classic Car show at the end of October 2016 and at the MOT test last
week.

Quick no nonsense sale needed, this car would sell for a lot more in spring but as stated, i have no where to keep it now.
To any potential buyers of my car who might also be interested in a limited slip diff" I have an extremely rare genuine Cosworth 7.5” LSD (limited slip
differential) from a low mileage Cosworth Scorpio automatic, so has had a very
easy life and is a straight swap with the right size output flanges and same
3.64 : 1 ratio as the S series, which I was going to fit but as I have to sell
the car I have now listed it in a separate auction
