vehicle description:
For sale is my 2002 TVR Tamora.
Approx 32k miles with service history, owner’s manual, 2 sets of keys and the original Key cards too.
To support the mileage, the MOT history is as follows:-
2006 – 21,758 miles
2007- 23,554 miles
2008 – 25,503 miles
2008 - 27, 057miles
2009- 28,017 miles
2010- 28,509 miles
2011- 31,748 miles
2012 – 31,570 miles
I bought this car unseen as accident damaged (Cat D) in 2014, and supposedly already repaired up
to paint stage. I expected a simple re-paint before a summers worth of motoring
in 2015. The repair assessment from the seller was optimistic (or perhaps I am
over-fussy) and I ended up re-doing the fibreglass repairs before deciding on a
complete colour change from the original Grey to Lamborghini Arancio California
pearl. It was also apparent that the car had stood for some time before I acquired
it (previously last used in 2012-3) so the last 15 months have become more of a
mini restoration. This has included:-
·
A complete colour change including all painted
areas such as door , bonnet and boot shuts.
·
A complete front suspension rebuild including
swivels, track rod ends, drop links.
·
Fitting of Protech adjustable front shockers/springs
(I have the rear ones too that still
need fitting)
·
4 new Toyo Proxes tyres
·
Numerous new lamps and badges
·
New Alloy radiator and fans
·
Engine Lube and Filter change
·
New drivers door drop glass
The chassis has been wax-oiled at some stage. When I cleaned
this to re-build the front suspension it was like new.
The car is probably about 95% road ready. The obvious jobs
that I can see to pass the MOT and return it to the road are:-
·
A fault in the dipped beam to be repaired, I
believe this may be a headlight switch or IDC patch (which is currently away
being checked/repaired at the moment) but i dont know for sure. When sorted, headlights will need
adjusting and the access panels re-fitting.
·
Battery access panel re-fitting
·
Someone had stolen the heater Amplifier before I
took delivery of the car (a small electronic switch/PCB/Relay). It will need
one purchased and fitted if you want the heater working
·
An exhaust clamp fitting
·
A front fog light inoperative.
·
Some trim re-fitting around the foot wells to
cover the ECU/fuse box.
·
A bonnet stay to be located and fitted
·
A final check to make sure everything is tight,
secure and working.
The hood is in a good serviceable condition. It is running,
starts on the button, moves around under its own steam but I have not driven it
on the road. It will require the registration document updating on the colour
change.
Now the bad bits.
Trim and fit was never good on TVR’s (this is about my 8th
one), and to get it to a really good condition would probably require tinkering
with. It could do with new carpets but the current ones are more than
serviceable. The (Black) seats are good condition but the runners are “sticky”.
There are several small finishers missing from the doors and the door glasses
could do with adjusting. The steering column cowl doesn’t sit right to my eye
and could do with fettling. But these are all jobs you can tinker with on
wet/cold days whilst you continue to drive and enjoy it on sunny ones.
It is also Cat D (twice). Originally from a small fire on the
steering column (2011) that was repaired and the car returned to the road for 2 years before the light front/rear accident in 2013. This damage was fibreglass only
with the chassis and suspension untouched. It has also had more owners than Richard
Burton had wives, 13 according to the registration document (actually not that unusual
for TVR’s and not the worse number I’ve had).
Why am I selling when it’s so close to finished? I am going
in for shoulder surgery very shortly which will see me unable to drive for 2-3
months but crucially not fit/able to complete these jobs for probably 6 months.
I don’t want to lose another summer of soft top driving. So the TVR needs to
find someone to finish it whilst I seek out a turnkey car to replace it.
This is a really cheap route into Tamora/TVR ownership.
These are becoming increasingly rare, only about 350 were built (rarer than a
Bugatti Veyron) and far, far fewer than that remain. It’s even rarer to find rolling
repair ones at this price that require value putting back into them and
remember, entry level ones are now £20k, with excellent ones even more. They
are increasing in value/rarity and seem sound investments.
I have set the price at a very competitive level and does
not reflect my monetary investment, and certainly not my time involved to date. I have the V5C document and it is registered in my name.
The car is available for viewing in Havant, Hants (PO9
postcode) by appointment.
