Unique MG ZS 180 2.5 V6 Auto Saloon in Monogram Shot Silk Chromescent. 1 of 1.
This ZS rolled off the MG Rover Longbridge production line in 2004 and was the only Shot Silk ZS built making it 1 of 1. It is also the only ZS180 automatic as this option was never offered on the 2.5 V6 in the ZS180.
This car originally went down the production line as a Rover 45 2.0 V6 Connoisseur Stepspeed auto and was taken from the line and converted to an MG ZS 180 auto by the factory and was registered by MG Rover’s press garage on 21 December 2004.
It was originally built for the wife of one of the MG Rover Director’s as she couldn’t drive a manual gearbox car. The Rover 45 shell had the full ZS180 body kit fitted, along with a full black leather ZS interior. Mechanically, the 2.0 V6 was removed and the 2.5 V6 running gear from the ZS180 inserted. The stepspeed gearbox was removed as this wouldn’t be able to cope with the 2.5 V6’s additional power and an MG ZT automatic gearbox was installed in its place.
The car remained in service with the MG Rover Group until the receivers were called in to close the business on 15 April 2005. The Director then purchased the car from the receivers and kept it for his wife until 25 January 2006, when the car was purchased by ex-MG Rover dealer SMC. Sold by them one month later to it’s next owner, who kept the car until 09 June 2011 it was then purchased by a collector, where the car has been dry stored ever since.
