vehicle description:
General car and history
Hi, here for sale is my much
loved and cherished Volvo XC70 2.4 Petrol Turbo Ocean Race, automatic which is in superb condition. The car is petrol, and when driven carefully
will easily average over 30 mpg. It is a
great winter car due to the excellent four wheel drive system, and has been
very reliable, always starting first time and never breaking down. The car has done 232K miles, but please do
not let this put you off, as it has been so well maintained throughout its
life.
I have owned the car for four
years, and the previous owner had it for ten years – he bought it as an
ex-demonstrator from Alan Gibson Volvo in Basingstoke. The reason for selling is lack of use, and
the fact that we have recently changed
one of our main cars to a new Mercedes estate, so we no longer have any need
for this car.
I am a Volvo enthusiast and have
owned many Volvos over the years. This
car has been maintained throughout its life regardless of cost, and has a full
and complete Volvo and Volvo Specialist service history, with 23 stamps in the service
book. I have a folder over an inch thick
documenting all the work that has been carried out on the car, but to summarise:

Since my ownership I have spent over
£9,000 (with all receipts to prove) on the car. I
never actually realised quite what I had spent until I went through the service
file to write this eBay description – whenever it’s needed anything, we’ve
simply sent it in for repair. A brand new
genuine Volvo automatic gearbox was fitted in July 2011, and the filters/oil
changed six months later as they should be (cost £2,000). The list is endless, and the car has multiple
new parts, but in summary:
Cambelt/Water pump were changed at 200K miles in
January 2010 including the water pump and tensionerTyres, battery, brakes, suspension componentsHeater matrix, various hoses, coil packs,
various sensorsThe full Volvo service schedule has been
followed to the letter throughout its life I have the original book pack which is fully
stamped, and all three keys/remote fobsMOT until October 2015, with last service 15/06/2014
Specification
The car is currently on a cherished
number plate, which is in the process of being removed from the car, and it
will return to its standard RG51 AMO plate.
The car is very well specified:
Full beige soft heated leather seats, with
electric adjustment and driver memory (the seats are in amazing condition with
virtually no signs of wear)Electric windows all round, mirrors and tilt-slide
sunroof, cruise control, 4-disc CD changerPower steering, ABS, traction control
Electric child locks, built in booster seats in
the back seats and integrated dog guardFully working RTI Volvo Satellite navigation system
(maps last updated in 2007) with remoteIntegrated TV tuner with remote (this will need
a digital upgrade to work again though)16” Tellus alloy wheels with front tyres
replaced under 5K miles ago, and the rears with just over 2m tread. All tyres are Pirelli ScorpionDetachable Volvo factory towbar and 7 pin
electrics
Driver information system computerMultiple airbags
Haldex four wheel drive system. Most of the time the car will use front wheel
drive only, but once it detecst the wheels may be slipping, it moves the power
around to get the best traction. This
system is excellent in the snow and generally on muddy winter lanes
Condition
This car really is in excellent
condition, with immaculate bodywork with no dents or scratches of any
significance at all. The paint has a
really nice deep shine as you can see in the photographs. I had dentmaster pull out the ‘shopping
trolley’ type dents along the sides of the car when I got it, and I also had
the bonnet resprayed to remove the stone chips, so the overall bodywork is
excellent. The aluminium scuff plates
front and rear were also replaced recently too.
I have always garaged the car, and the previous owner did too.
The interior is free from any
nasty smells, has never been smoked in and is in immaculate condition. There are no marks or stains on the carpets,
roof lining or seats and the leather is clean and supple.
Mechanically the car drives
perfectly, particularly since it has the new gearbox. It kicks down really well, and is very
responsive. The brakes/steering are all
excellent too. Everything works on the
car as it should do.
Faults
The windscreen was recently
replaced due to a crack, and the windscreen clips at the edge of the screen
were damaged. This does not really
notice unless you are up close, but really it could do with new clips either
slide. I have the old ones which could possibly
be glued back into place. The windscreen
doesn’t leak at all though.
The largest point of note is that
the heater on the car has stopped working.
The fan system works fine, and blows air, but it will never get
hot. I do not know why this is, but
please consider this when bidding.
Whilst the car is excellent and I
believe anyone looking at it will be amazed at the condition, please remember
this is still an old car.
I am based in a village just
outside Chester (postcode CH3 9JS), and the car will be sold only on eBay and
to the highest bidder. Any ridiculous
offers or chancers will be ignored. £100 non-refundable deposit will be required from the winning bidder within 24 hours of auction end.
Happy bidding! For more
information, please email or call/text me on 07875 378 736
