Very rare Smart in Aqua Vanilla colours ! Much loved, owned by me since "09 (second owner), full history, regularly serviced,many new parts including fuel rail. Brand new alternator and V belts fitted in November.
Starts on the button and drives like it should, gear changes all good in auto or manual, and has been used as a daily runabout. BUT the Smart has now been temporarily grounded by crankshaft position sensor failure which means it cuts out after a few miles when the engine warms up. An easy fix but I’ve spent a lot out and though it"s a small repair cost it will come on top of tax, insurance and Mot which is all coming up. I"m retired, so I’ve reluctantly decided to sell and economise.The Smart is now on SORN awaiting sale.Problems? Roof hasn’t been opened for ages as it began to play up a few years ago when FULLY retracting and I was afraid it would get stuck. I never investigated the problem properly and will not try the roof because the CAR is completely watertight as is. Fabric is good. The folding roof mechanism may well also turn out to be easy fix if you want to fix it. Rev counter doesn’t work (so what). Some bit of minor wear and tear on the bodywork,mainly some small damage from years ago on the offside rear wing, repaired underneath with resin and disguised on top with a little flower.
We are very sorry to be selling, but know it makes sense.(Crankshaft issue will mean,ideally, a trailer) Thanks, hope this will be a nice purchase for someone.
