This is a very original 1995 version 1 sti - 1 of the only a handful, hand built forged engines sti made at the small "Subaru tecnica international HQ", after 1995 they were made alongside the standard Impreza"s in the Subaru factory alongside the wrx"s on the production line. There are a few age related marks, little dent on passengers wing, signs of paint bubbling on rear passenger arch, but very solid. Imported in 2000 with all original import papers and service history only 79,000 miles (127,000km"s) 12 months MOT, brand new Bridgestone Potenza"s all round, 4 pot brakes - stops so well, all belts changed in the last year - very very rare car!
The version 1 Sti"s, are the only Sti"s to have their own special edition build number plaque"s and only 100 were made a month, making this one of 1,200 v1 sti"s ever made. These v1 Sti"s were the 1st to have the all important IC Spray (intercooler spray function) which can help keep things cooler and therefore running better, also they had the custom Nardi Sterring wheels, and the 1995 Sti specific rear wing - which is beautiful and the downforce you get is incredible, and this 1995 Sti special edition spoiler even that has its own personal Sti plaque. - Think I"m going to regret selling this one day, it already is a very, very rare car no Sti"s were available to the UK market in 1995, so this one being a proper import it rare.
It has the license plate L999 WRX - which again is worth £500 and a nice little addition.
I bought this car to strip and race, I have been in to hillclimbing now for a few years and wanted something competitive, and this sort of landed in my lap, but now I have a close friend who is selling his car and it is already done to the spec I want, so to save myself a few man hours - this one is back up for sale only months after purchasing it, in which time I have spent some proper money on it, with Millers fully synthetic 10-60 Motorsport oil, HKS hybrid oil filter, magnetic sump nut, new iridium plugs, 4 x brand new Bridgestone Potenza"s and a fresh 12 moths ticket all in the last 3 weeks alone!
These have the 2nd best power to weight ratio, 2nd only to the RA"s which are now going up in value.
It has a few upgrades, for one the headlights - not my choice but they came fitted when I bought it, I have original glass classic headlights and indicators that are included in the sale to revert back to stock. The Baileys dump valve - love "em or hate them, they are supposed help the life of the turbo. A Japspeed 3 exhaust with sports Cat - so still passes the MOT and makes that lovely rumble sound. Silicone hoses - the nicest part of the few upgrades - apart from those few things it is standard - and that is why I bought it, the last owner had it since 2009 - some 7 years and it was his baby, so it has not been tuned to within an inch of its life - it has its original 250hp and 228lb-ft of torque - which in these v1 sti"s at only 1240kg"s - makes it go like stink!
It was imported in 2000 and has all its import papers and some good service history.
It is 21 years old, so if you"re over 25 it qualifies for classic car insurance - which for me at 37 is £190 a year full comp!
The age also means it has some age related marks, small, but there are a few, and the passenger rear arch is starting to show the signs - still time to get it done! The car is solid underneath, all the bumpers and spoilers are clean, but there is some panel fade where some panels are more faded than others. But saying that it cleans up lovely and is still very presentable. The car would benefit from a full re-spray and then be worth 6K+. these classics are only going up now.
If you want to come and see it, I am happy to take you up the road and back, but no one gets to drive it unless I see they have the money to pay for it in their hands.
Get one of the very 1st Subaru Sti"s ever made, and made the year Colin Mcrea won the world rally championship!
