Genuinely unknown engine fault. Timing belt slipped without causing any damage to pistons or valves. Was told to get a new cambox, timing belt and water pump and it would probably be fixed. Needless to say this hasn’t been the case. So the problem is genuinely unknown. I fully intended to get this issue fixed as I love this car. But had to get another car to get to and from work in and have now fallen out off love with the insignia and in love with the replacement car. With a degree of mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair or worst case scenario a replacement engine this is an opportunity to own a really great car at a fraction of the price. Vehicle also has a small dent on the passenger rear wing (quoted £300) to repair.
