THE 1ST OWNER PURCHASED THE CAR NEW AND SOLD IT TO PHILIPPOS CATERING CO IN THE SAME CITY AS HIMSELF IN 1977
IN 1978 IT WAS AQUIRED BY A WELL KNOWN DEALER WHOM REGISTERED IT IN HIS OWN NAME BEFORE SELLING TO THE FINAL OWNER SO IN ESSANCE 3 FORMER KEEPERS NOT 4 .
IN JUNE 1978 AT C 77000 MILES THE CAR WAS SUBSTANTUALLY OVERHAULED BY HOLDERS OF CONGRESBURY LTD INCLUDING A FULL ENGINE AND GEARBOX REBUILD WITH INVOICES FOR THIS WORK IN THE HISTORY FILE WHEN ADVERTISED FOR SALE IN 1978 IT WAS DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS
PEARL OYSTER WITH BLUE HIDE AUTOMATIC CHROME WIRE WHEELS POWER STEERING SUNDYM GLASS 74000 MILES
THE LAST OWNER USED THE CAR VERY LIGHTLY OVER THE NEXT 9 YEARS COVERING JUST 3750 MILES BEFORE HE FELL ILL IN 1987 WHERE IT WENT INTO STORAGE AND HAS REMAINED UNTILL WE PURCHASED
THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN STARTED FOR 28 YEARS WHEN WE GOT IT .
ON ARRIVAL WITH OURSELVES THE VEHICLE WENT TO A CLASSIC SPECIALIST WE USE AND THE REMIT WAS FOR THEM TO VERY GENTLY BRING THE CAR BACK TO LIFE
WE SPENT CONSIDERABLE SUMS DOING THIS WITH ALL INVOICES ON FILE IN THE HISTORY FOLDER
AND SOME 3 MONTHS LATER IT WAS A DELIGHT TO SEE THE VEHICLE DRIVING AROUND THE ENCLOSED YARD BEHIND OUR DEALERSHIP AND IT SOUNDED FANTASTIC GENTLE AND SYMPATHETIC RECOMMISIONING HAD BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO LIFE AFTER 27 YEARS OF NOT STARTING .
THE PROCESS WAS THEN TO STRIP THE VEHICLE
ALL METAL WORK WAS SENT AWAY TO BE REFURBISHED AND IS ALL NOW AS NEW
THE INTERIOR WHICH WAS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION IS THOROUGHLY CLEANED AND READY TO GO BACK IN .
DURING THE STRIPPING PROCESS A FANTASTIC PIECE OF BUILD HISTORY WAS FOUND .
THE VEHICLE NOW AS OF JANUARY 14TH 2016 IS AWAY AT THE BODYSHOP HAVING BE FULLY STRIPPED AND IT IS HAVING A COMPLETE BARE METAL RESPRAY .
NO EXPENSE IS BEING SPARED ON THIS VEHICLE .
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE IT PAINTED ITS ORIGINAL COLOUR HOWEVER THERE IS A SMALL WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY CURRENTLY TO HAVE IT PAINTED A COLOUR OF A CUSTOMERS CHOICE
HOWEVER WE BELIEVE KEEPING IT ORIGINAL AND AS PER THE DAY IT LEFT THE FACTORY CORRECT .
