Now this is something unusual…….
On behalf of a friend of the company, this is not one of our cars, we have for sale this very rare Lotus ELITE in 501 spec. It is a runner and was, until last year, on the road. It is currently declared sorn and out of MOT. There is a huge file of documentation and photographs that show all the work done over the years by its doting owner. There are also a hefty amount of spare parts with the car. It has a cream leather interior and lots of nice period touches such as the GPS sticker on the back screen as seen in one of the pictures.
However, it does have some issues. Whilst it does run, it’s a bit rough as the carbs are not set up properly, there is a technique to keeping it running properly. Also, it is subject to this engine’s achilles heel, namely, the infamous engine V oil leak! This oil drips down on to the manifold and burns off. On reading up it has become clear that there is fix for this common fault, not something we want to get involved in. The underbody is great and the paintwork is generally good with only some minor crazing to the fibreglass in places. It’s water tight and with some time and fettling would scrub up really well.  The tyres and wheels are all very good.
Because of the issues listed above am going to sell it as a runner but it will need a trailer to get it away. I am not giving any warranty with this car as it is for one of our customers and given the type of car it is. It has a low start price and a very reasonable reserve, you are welcome to make an offer. Rest assured, all we want to get for it what our customer has asked, it is NOT one of our retail cars.
