In 2002 my friend Pete asked me if I wanted to buy his Jaguar XJS V12. He had put it into storage for a few months and someone had broken into the garage and stolen the battery from the boot and to do so had simply cut the power cables - very clever.
The car started when we put a jumper pack on it but I really didn"t fancy another car to work on even though all it needed was a pair of rear tyres and a good polish as far as I could see so I spoke to my dad thinking he might like to have it as a summer run around for a bit of a laugh.
So I helped get it round to his house and even bought him two rear tyres so he could get it on the road but dad thought it would be a good idea to fettle it a little bit and this was 15 years ago in 2002!!!
So he proceeded to totally strip the car and then, having dealt with a couple of little rusty bits (no welding needed) he gave it a total re-spray (which is pretty good although the boot needs a bit of buffing up).
Sadly, about 5 years ago dad was diagnosed with a blood disorder which finally turned to leukaemia last year and which took him from us a couple of weeks ago.
He had a good fight with the cancer and in-between blood transfusions got a lot of the car back together from the heaps of brand new parts he had found over the years but what we have now is a pretty big Jaguar jigsaw for someone to put together and although it"s an interesting project for me, I simply don"t love Jaguars enough and don"t have the knowledge of what goes where on them to make this viable. Perhaps if dad had driven it and had some history with it but he didn"t so I would rather someone else finished it off.
The car is complete, in fact, over complete as he bought so many spares and extras and has bought piles of books and manuals, he also took lots of photos of where stuff went so it can go back correctly.
So, do you have the energy and vision to take this on? - The car is in Southend, Essex.
