vehicle description:

For Sale: TVR CHIMAERA 430 BV
1993 Reg TVR CHIMAERA 430, believed to be a Big Valve variant in Ocean Haze Metallic paint.
Mileage: 90,169
MOT : 12 Months , expires on 20th March 2017 (no advisories)
Spec for Big Valve:
The engine was uprated to 300 bhp using a racing big valve head, with larger inlet and exhaust valves with racing springs and a gas flowed head, together with a 214 high lift camshaft , lightened flywheel , vernier timing gears ,heavy duty clutch plate and release bearing.

Whilst there is much subjectivity amongst the TVR fraternity as to which engine is the best to have, it is certain that Peter Wheeler (owner of TVR) said that the 4.3 was one of the finest TVR engineered. This is my 3rd CHIMAERA and  my favourite.
Car has been re-trimmed in the recent past and paint work is very presentable. Car has 17 inch alloys. Targa panel could do with being re-trimmed and being honest I would allow for a new set of rubber door seals to be fitted. In my ownership, car has never been driven in the wet, but door rubbers do look tired.
Car comes with comprehensive box file full of historical service and maintenance information.
Service stamps for all services up to 70,000.
Recent work that I have undertaken since ownership:
·       New Dash Installed (£220 Dash) – August 15
·       New Fan belt – July 15
·       New Battery
·       2x New Lambada Sensors – Nov 15
·       New Spark Plugs – Dec 15
·       New Grill – July 15
·       Coolant drain and re-fill – feb 16
·       New LT177 speed transducer – feb 16
·       Greasing of prop shaft – feb 16 / mileage 90164
·       Differential drain old oil and renew – feb 16 / mileage 90164
·       Refurbish brake pedal light switch – feb 16
This is a good solid example of the TVR 430, the car runs well, does not overheat (has a manual override on the fan as well but have never used it, all the electrics work as they should including the alarm. The only issue is that the speedo is intermittent and this is due to the sensor on the differential that needs replacing.
Mechanically the car is sound and performs as you would expect from a TVR. The chassis is solid and has had the outriggers replaced in the recent past. The suspension arms are solid but being honest could do with cleaning and re-painting.
To be very clear, this is a good example, but not perfect and I have priced accordingly to reflect the new owners ‘to do list’ that would bring the car back up to an A1 condition. To re-cap these being:
·       New door rubbers
·       Re - Trim of Targa section(although it is fine as is, just a bit tatty if you are picky)
·       New speed sensor to be fitted. This can be done DIY, but to be honest, it would be easier to give it to a TVR garage to install. I’ve had a quote for this at around £270.00 for the part (£80.00) plus labour.
·       Cleaning and repainting of suspension arms
·       Two new front tyres would be advisable
·       Oil change
·       Steering wheel needs to be centred. Reason is that when I bought it , it had an after-market wheel which I have replaced with a TVR one. Does not affect steering / handling, just one of those things that needs adjustment.
The reason for sale is simple. I bought the car last June and have covered less than 200 miles in it and most of them in the last month. I have a young family and commitments mean that I do not get the luxury of days to drive in the sun and enjoy the car on my own. I’ve now got to look for a 2+2 sports car. These cars need driving regularly and I do not have the time to do this. I have owned 5 TVRs in my time (S2, 350i and 2 CHIMAERA 400 and CHIMAERA430) so whilst I would never claim to be an expert I do have some experience.
Viewing is welcome, but no test pilots and adrenaline junkies please. If you have own comprehensive insurance that could be used for test drive  , you are welcome to come and take it for a spin. Otherwise I am happy to take serious potential buyers for a short drive.
Would be interested in a Maserati 3200 or Porsche 911 deal given that I need a 2+2.
