I had this listed as a classified advert, but due to having an option of buying a 2+2 coupe from a family friend at a PX price I need to shorten the advert period. I only have two weeks to raise the cash in before the car goes to a dealer as PX on a new model. As such I am looking for a swift and straight forward sale, so please do not bid if you are unable to complete the purchase within 72 hours of the auction ending. I will also need a 10% deposit paid via paypal within 24 hours of the auction ending. I"m sorry for having to state the obvious to those e-bayers with a great record, but by placing a bid you are committing to purchase the car for a sum of money and not secure 1st  option on the car when you come and view and/or start haggling on price. As such I would recommend and welcome viewings.  I unfortunately am away over Easter but the car should be available for viewing (prior appointment only) either late Monday or on Tuesday - Thursday.  Having said all that if the car does not make the reserve, then I accept the new purchase is not meant to be and I will keep and enjoy the CHIMAERA
Anyway,
Spec for Big Valve:
The engine was uprated to 300 bhp using a racing big valve head, with larger inlet and exhaust valves with racing springs and a gas flowed head, together with a 214 high lift camshaft , lightened flywheel , vernier timing gears ,heavy duty clutch plate and release bearing.

Whilst there is much subjectivity amongst the TVR fraternity as to which engine is the best to have, it is certain that Peter Wheeler (owner of TVR) said that the 4.3 was one of the finest TVR engineered. This is my 3rd CHIMAERA and  my favourite.
Car has been re-trimmed in the recent past and paint work is very presentable. Car has 17 inch alloys. Targa panel could do with being re-trimmed and being honest I would allow for a new set of rubber door seals to be fitted. In my ownership, car has never been driven in the wet, but door rubbers do look tired.
Car comes with comprehensive box file full of historical service and maintenance information.
Service stamps for all services up to 70,000.
Recent work that I have undertaken since ownership:
·       New Dash Installed (£220 Dash) – August 15
·       New Fan belt – July 15
·       New Battery
·       2x New Lambada Sensors – Nov 15
·       New Spark Plugs – Dec 15
·       New Grill – July 15
·       Coolant drain and re-fill – feb 16
·       New LT177 speed transducer – feb 16
·       Greasing of prop shaft – feb 16 / mileage 90164
·       Differential drain old oil and renew – feb 16 / mileage 90164
·       Refurbish brake pedal light switch – feb 16
This is a good solid example of the TVR 430, the car runs well, does not overheat (has a manual override on the fan as well but have never used it, all the electrics work as they should including the alarm. The only issue is that the speedo is intermittent and this is due to the sensor on the differential that needs replacing.
Mechanically the car is sound and performs as you would expect from a TVR. The chassis is solid and has had the outriggers replaced in the recent past. The suspension arms are solid but being honest could do with cleaning and re-painting.
To be very clear, this is a good example, but not perfect and I have priced accordingly to reflect the new owners ‘to do list’ that would bring the car back up to an A1 condition. To re-cap these being:
·       New door rubbers
·       Re - Trim of Targa section(although it is fine as is, just a bit tatty if you are picky)
·       New speed sensor to be fitted. This can be done DIY, but to be honest, it would be easier to give it to a TVR garage to install. I’ve had a quote for this at around £270.00 for the part (£80.00) plus labour.
·       Cleaning and repainting of suspension arms
·       Two new front tyres would be advisable
·       Oil change
·       Steering wheel needs to be centred. Reason is that when I bought it , it had an after-market wheel which I have replaced with a TVR one. Does not affect steering / handling, just one of those things that needs adjustment.
The reason for sale is simple. I bought the car last June and have covered less than 200 miles in it and most of them in the last month. I have a young family and commitments mean that I do not get the luxury of days to drive in the sun and enjoy the car on my own. I’ve now got to look for a 2+2 sports car. These cars need driving regularly and I do not have the time to do this. I have owned 5 TVRs in my time (S2, 350i and 2 CHIMAERA 400 and CHIMAERA 430) so whilst I would never claim to be an expert I do have some experience.
Viewing is welcome, but no test pilots and adrenaline junkies please. If you have own comprehensive insurance that could be used for test drive  , you are welcome to come and take it for a spin. Otherwise I am happy to take serious potential buyers for a short drive.
Questions asked to date :
1. Does the car come with the original bonnet badge ?  - Yes, I have this and it is a gold coloured one.2. Does Boot switch stick  ? No, the button does need pressing a couple of times before the boot unlocks but never sticks3. Car is always garaged. 4. Wheels are 17 inch after market alloys - I do not know the brand5. Viewing is welcome at all times and if you wish to bring a TVR expert with you, please feel free. This is a genuine unmolested car. 6.What tyres are on the car ? - Rear are Avon ZZ3 225/45/ZR 17 in very good condition. Fronts are Firenza 205/40/ZR17 these do need replacing as the near side has cracking to the side wall
7.Does the car suffer from the hot start problem - No, it always starts when hot
8. Does alarm and immobilisor work ok ? - Yes both are trouble free. The car has had a new ignition , so there is a separate key for the alarm (the original key) and a new one for ignition barrel.
9. Do wipers work ? Yes they worked fine and have just passed MOT. Are slower than modern standards like all TVRs.
10. Car is HPI Clear , never been involved in an accident or stolen etc
11. Engine is strong, pulls well and revs very freely. History file shows camshaft replacement in past.
