Values are only going one way and that"s up! with one of the last Griffiths recently selling for £75k and good cars regularly selling in the mid twenties this is definitely a viable project or worthwhile investment.
This car was stolen and broken up for parts by an unscrupulous breaker, we managed to recover the main parts of the car from the breaker who had acquired it and we dealt with the insurance company, previous owner and the Police to get this car back to a position where we could rebuild it. The car is listed on HPI as having had a theft claim against it but is not recorded as any damaged category write off and the Police have inspected the car at our premises and have now taken it off their stolen register so the car can now be rebuilt without issue.
The car is a two owner (last owner since 2002) 1999 T plate Griffith 500. Originally it was silver but was painted black not long before it was stolen, the V5 still lists it as silver and evidence of the original colour can be found in several areas of the shell. The body is undamaged save for some scratches and chips done by the careless breaker so it will need a repaint but there is no real damage to repair and it looks like the car has never been previously damaged. It has been properly stripped of all its components so will take some work to put it back together but it can be done. There are lots and lots of parts missing but all the main significant parts to build up a rolling chassis and body are here.There is no engine or drivetrain at all.The car was last MOT"d in 2012 and was showing around 42k miles.
We"ve been hanging on to this for sometime with the plan to rebuild it for the previous owner but current circumstances mean that won"t happen now so we are offering it here as a project opportunity for someone else. We would obviously be happy to rebuild this car for the winning bidder and did plan to use it to build with one of our Evolution chassis cars with GM LS3 V8 power as it is an ideal starting point and could make an awesome car.
The original chassis is structurally good, ideally it needs the outriggers replacing and then blasting and re-coating so if you do decide to rebuild it on the original chassis it is viable. Lots of the other components will need refurbishing or replacing though and as we said there is a lot missing. That said its all stuff that"s available either new or from the usual breakers.

We will be able to help and supply some of the missing parts from our own stock extra to the auction but we just need to check our stocks first and see what parts we need for our current projects before we commit anything. We will probably be able to help with the roof and interior parts needed but for now we have listed what is included in this auction. Further parts will be available to the winning bidder at reasonable prices and if we have duplicates of some smaller parts we don"t need then we will throw them in with the car to help out. We are also happy to help in the future with advice and guidance to help get this car rebuilt and back on the road.
