vehicle description:
Lotus Elise Series 1 Millenium Special Edition
The “Millenium” was a end of S1 Elise production motor show special and went down so well, it became a very limited and un-numbered run (118BHP, and 143BHP 111S formats.) Mine is 118bhp.
One colour only – a really beautifully deep Navy Blue pearl called “Atlantis”, with alloys, headlamp covers, 111S comfort seats trimmed in Blue alcantara, complimenting the door inner panel, sill covers and the wheel boss. A Blue soft top also compliments the car.
She was built in Sept 2000 and I bought her November 2010. Totally unmolested 1.8 Rover K series engine with no recorded problems or issues. Uses no oil or water, starts first time every time.
One of the very last Series 1 Lotus Elise ever made.
I’ve put some modest upgrades on her:
I had the new style metalised head gasket fitted years ago to stop any chance of failure
New Nitron NTR (road) suspension 1 month after I bought her
Clear front and side indicators – look lovely with the deep blue body colour. I still have the original orange indicators
New battery, starter motor and alternator within the last 2 years
Upgraded windscreen wiper from the series 2 Elise – this one actually cleans the windscreen!
Front air splitter fitted a few years back improves the looks and the handling at motorway speeds
New gearbox with all metal bushes and bearings and Quaife automatic torque biasing limited slip differential 2 years ago – great upgrades and stronger than the originals
The Quaife LSD is totally gear driven, no plates to adjust, and so is 100% maintenance free
Oil breater catch tank (see picture 6). This negates the build up of deposits in the Idle Air Control Valve. When this happens the IACV can stay slightly open and cause high revs even when you come off the throttle. This modification stops that.
She was serviced mid Aug 2015 and has needed for nothing mechanically while I have had her – I believe in looking after the things I care for. Comes with a stack of paperwork and complete service history. Only 76,000 miles young, still as taught and agile as the day she was built. Wish I was the same!
MOT"d this Jan 2016 - had an advisary for wear on one front lower ball joint on the right wishbone, so I had both replaced immediately. Best to do things right!
45 mpg on a run. 35 mpg having fun!
£360 year fully comp insurance with Henderson Taylor superb performance car insurer, Manchester.
Pictures:
1 to 4: show the car with the original Lotus factory fit wheels
The tyres are Toyo R1R normal/wet weather with approx 500 miles use
These are the wheel and tyres that will come with the car
5: shows the interior of the car
car mats removed for cleaning (now back in car)
shows zero corrosion on the allumimium
6: Unmolested 1.8 Rover K series engine
Blue box is the oil breather catch tank
7: Interior showing blue Alcantara
8: Deep navy blue pear paint has a lovely deep shine - just waxed
9: Optional ROTA Slipstream wheels and Toyo R888 tyres
The ROTA"s are special order items. Colour is Gunmetal
Toyo R888"s are a dry weather/damp road tyre with approx 500 miles use
These wheels and tyres are an optional purchase through separate negotiation
10: Optional factory issue hard top
This has two fibreglass chips at the tail ends of the roof - approx size of 50p pieces
Roof has swirl scratch mark - I tried removing/cleaning a direct hit from a seagul and pressed too hard. Rats!
The hard top is an optional purchase through separate negotiation
11: Wear of fabric on drivers side sill where you get in and out. Unavoidable - unless you exit through the roof or weigh less than 9 stones...
12: No wear on the passenger side. My good lady is many, many Kgs lighter than me!
Selling because my competition car needs a serious injection of funds asap. However, if my beloved Elise does not sell this month I"ll be trying again in April when the price will be £11,950 - the sun"s out then - and/or taking the car to the Silverstone Classic meeting on the Lotus Drivers Club stand to display and sell.
So, now"s the time to buy a Series 1 Elise - a car that is already a classic and has started to really appreciate in value.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and additional photos can be sent on request.
Cheers, Darryl
