For sale is my pride and joy, my Saab HOT Aero.
I purchased the car just over two years ago when I was looking for something a little different. My Father has always had Saab"s going back the last 20 years which in turn has made me grow to be very fond of them.
The car previously belonged to an elderly man from the west coast of Scotland. It has literally lived in a garage its entire life. Sadly due to health issues the car was then sold and it has been kept in my garage since with it only being used for light weekend driving.
Considering that it is now 12 years old in age, the car has covered less than 5,000 miles per year on average. To look at, to touch and when sitting inside and driving the car you honestly, and I do mean honestly would not believe it was that age or has covered the miles that it has.
The car has been serviced by both Saab and independent specialists since day one and has a full service history with the most recent service completed last month. It has also had a full air-conditioning service, sump drop, four wheel alignment and new rear tyres. Nothing has been left unattended to on the car and no expense has been spared.
The exterior condition is exceptional (forgive me now as I may use this word a few times!). The colour is known as Nocturne Blue metallic and the paintwork is excellent throughout with no unsightly scuffs or scratches and the shine is beautiful. I polish the car every few months and use a rather pricey wax on it immediately after.
The only evidence of age on the exterior is a couple of minor stone chips to the front and one small chip/mark on the plastic rear bumper molding. There are no dings or dents anywhere on the car. All the alloy wheels are unmarked and have been professionally refurbished purely due to age.
The interior is almost as new and it has barely aged at all. The seating is trimmed in a soft beige leather which is a really pleasant contrast to the exterior. There is hardly any ware to the drivers seat at all. The rear seats look brand new. Even the original mats are still present and in excellent condition. I personally have never driven with them in the car - I always use rubber mats. The steering wheel is also unique to Aero models as it comes in a supple leather trim with perforated sides.
With regards to all the electrical toys and gadgets all I can say is that every thing works, and works well. The car has some great features such as heated seats which in under 60 seconds time start to heat up and really do get to work on your lower back as well. Then there is the electric seats which work flawlessly and finding the best and most comfortable position takes no time at all. You can even save your seat position/s via the buttons on the side. The air-conditioning is superb and very refreshing as it has been re-gassed. The car also has a Premium Audio System which sounds very nice and very clear. There are no blown speakers or rattles etc. The car even has a cassette deck and CD player. On top of all these options, the car also has cruise control, electric windows and door mirrors, traction control, auto-dipping side mirrors for parking, very powerful Bi-Xenon headlights and rear parking sensors (all of which work without fault).
The Aero consists of distinct front and rear Evolution bumpers, larger 17 alloy wheels and probably the finest turbo enhanced engine available. The suspension is also a little firmer but I would say it is more controlled as it does not feel uncomfortable to drive, even on the bumpiest of roads and surfaces.
The power delivery is more than adequate and very direct. The gear changes move up and down effortlessly and smoothly. The steering is very precise and feels like a sports car and the braking is spot on. When you are sitting inside the Saab it does feel rather special and I for one have never felt the need to show its true potential. I am a very sedate driver and do not drive like Jackie Stewart but I do like a car that can deliver as and when. The Saab Aero certainly does all of that, with luxury and refinement.
