2005/55 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT
This listing is for my 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT, owned by myself since December 2014 and 86,000 miles.
The car is currently on 112,000 miles, but this will increase as it is used daily to commute to work (70 mile round trip).
The MOT expires 15th October 2016.
It was registered before 2006 and so has the cheaper annual road tax; most of the 2.5 engined Subarus will cost an extra £200 per year to tax- the 2005 registered 2.5"s are relatively rare as the 2.5 engine was only introduced mid-2005.
The car has been serviced at a Subaru dealer until 54,000 miles, then independent until I purchased the car- there is a service stamp missing at approx. 75,000 miles, but the previous owner supplied documents showing it had been in to a garage.
In my ownership it has been maintained accordingly:
87k miles: service- engine oil, gearbox oil, rear differential oil, oil filter, air filter- local garage (Drakes, Shiptonthorpe)
88k miles: fuel filter and battery- fitted myself
95k miles: engine oil & filter- fitted myself
101k miles: cambelt and spark plugs changed- local Subaru specialist (A.G. Motors, Crockey Hill)
January "16: new radiator fitted- fitted myself
103k miles: engine oil & filter- fitted myself
February "16: all suspension bushes replaced with new ones
The car is due another service shortly; I have brake pads, engine oil & filter and air filter ready to be fitted- I intend to do this next weekend.
I had the tow bar fitted in February 2015 and since then it has been used around half a dozen times to tow a light weight trailer- the car did not have a tow bar fitted before I owned it. The tow bar was fitted by an NTTA accredited company.

Bad points:
To ensure there"s no nasty surprises when anyone comes to have a look at the car there are a couple of very minor issues-
There are slight scuffs on the nearside corners of the front and rear bumpers (shown in the pictures); these happened before I bought the car- they"re not actually as bad as they look in the pictures. There is an intermittent fault with the CD player; sometimes when you try and play a CD it comes up with an error and won"t play- I have never investigated this as I only ever listen to the radio or iPod whilst in the car, so not being able to listen to a CD every now and again has never been an issue for me. The radio and navigation all works as it should.
Overall this has been the best car that I have ever owned, it goes well, is very versatile and has been completely reliable under my ownership. I will be very sorry to see it go, but unfortunately a recent house purchase means that I need something a bit more economical.
