This is my very early, pre-facelift MG ZS 180 2.5 V6 in metallic ‘Anthracite’ grey (black really). First registered on 21 September 2001, the car has gone on to have only 2 owners with the most recent since 2011. The MG ZS is becoming a rare sight these days, particularly in 2.5 V6 saloon form… which is the best! It has only covered 96,014 miles in its 20 years (4,800 per year) and comes with lots of history, including many old MOTs. The ZS starts, runs and drives extremely well.
Details :The ZS runs completely without issue, delivering that distinctive V6 sound from the 2.5ltr, 180bhp Rover KV6 engine – it is such a smooth engine. The 5-speed manual gearbox and clutch are spot on, making the car an absolute joy to drive. All of this is to be expected from such a well maintained car, and being the ZS 180 it is the best driving car of the MG Z car range thanks to the independent, all round double-wishbone suspension. With the exception of the electric sunroof, which tilts but will not slide fully back at present, all other electrics function exactly as they should.
Turning to the condition of the ZS, as can be seen from the pictures, it is a very smart looking car. With the exception of a few age related marks, the metallic ‘Anthracite Grey’ paint shines and looks nice. As with all MGs, the alloy wheels would benefit from a refurb but are presentable. The interior, with its ‘Monaco’ half-leather black / red seats, is really good with the only noteworthy wear being isolated to the driver’s seat bolster.
So, here we have my pre-facelift MG ZS 180 sold with 5mths MOT and the peace of mind that comes with a comprehensive history file. MG ZSs are becoming a very rare sight and collectable, with the ZS 180 saloon being the most desirable (particularly with the ‘Extreme’ spoiler), so prices will certainly rise. There are a handful of minor jobs to do on this ZS 180 to make perfect, but it is in great mechanical shape and drives brilliantly.
