vehicle description:

It is with great sadness that I have to sell my Delta. I bought the car in August 2014 and drove it for a short while before putting her into winter storage for a bit of a makeover. I have simply run out of time, money and most importantly, space to get it finished. The engine is currently out of the car as it had a weep from the upper sump gasket which was irritating me. Anyone who has had any experience with upper sump gaskets on these cars will know that replacing this simple £10 gasket is an absolute pig of a job without removing the transmission. I decided that I would just drop the whole lump out, put it on an engine stand and do a full engine gasket replacement (no point pulling an engine out and only changing one gasket right !). I have literally taken the engine down to the bare bones and inspected/cleaned everything, with many parts receiving treatment in the bead blaster and now looking like new. It now needs to be rebuilt. The gearbox and front diff have also been thoroughly cleaned and now looking fantastic. When I bought the car I also received a mountain of spares, including a complete engine, gearbox, front diff, turbo, inter-cooler, inlet manifolds, throttle bodies, ECU.
I had only just commenced rebuilding when I lost the use of the lock-up the car was in so it"s been a real pain and one of the reasons I"ve decided to sell it on.
The car itself is a 1989 8v Swiss car which was imported to the UK in around 1997 and is showing 100,273 on the odometer, which I believe is kilometers. The Swiss 8v Kat cars were essentially the same as the 16v version with upgraded suspension and with the rear wheel biased power distribution (I believe the earlier 8v cars had more of a front biased power distribution). There is no catalytic converter on the car, it has been replaced with a full stainless steel system.  The previous owner bought the car in 2008 and kept it in storage until I bought it last year. He spent a fair bit of time tinkering over the years, replacing many parts along the way. There"s actually huge pile of paperwork/receipts going back years.  Underside of the car is solid, no rot anywhere and the previous owner spent quite a bit of time under-sealing etc while it was in storage. The external paintwork will need a little bit of TLC as it"s got a bit of rust around the lower windscreen (common) and a few other places such as rear door and quarter (no rust at all along rear roof line, which some cars have a problem with apparently). It"s all cosmetic and nothing rotten by any means. I guess each area could be painted individually or you could go the full 9 yards and do a full re-spray.
The car sustained light damage to the front in the early 2000"s which resulted in it being declared a Category D. Back then, I guess the value of the car was only a couple of grand, so you can imagine that the cost of a new bumper, wing and bonnet from Lancia would have far exceeded the value of the car. There is no sign of any structural damage anywhere, and this can of course be inspected easily by the new buyer due to the engine being out. I have the receipts for the new panels (including an Evo bonnet, which gives the car a more aggressive look).
It"s a fantastic drivers car, every bit as good as I had hoped and actually far quicker than I expected. I know that I will probably never be able to own one of these iconic cars again due to the rate they are appreciating in value (I was staggered when I saw some of the latest prices on ebay & pistonheads !). This is a good opportunity for someone who perhaps can"t quite afford the cost of a completed car and has a bit of space and time to finish the build. You can lock yourself in your garage and emerge in a couple of months (or even weeks) with your  Integrale in time for some fun in the snow ! All you really need is a full gasket set (£140 from Deltaparts or AE Car) and get underway. Every single mechanical component you need and a whole bunch more is there, you will also receive the full workshop manuals for guidance. Anyone with previous Delta experience will probably have it done in no time. I guess the good thing about rebuilding yourself is the peace of mind that everything has been checked, with no nasty surprises waiting to bite you.
I"ve also got a full set of fiberglass Evolution body panels which I bought as I was toying with the idea of going for a full body conversion. I eventually decided that I would just go for the evo front and rear bumpers which I have seen fitted to these cars and really do make a big difference to the appearance, giving it a more modern twist. These body panels will not be part of the package and will be at extra cost should the buyer be interested.
If you have any questions please just get back to me as I"ve probably not mentioned half of it here. *****PLEASE NOTE, I"M NOT BREAKING THE CAR FOR SPARES, EVERYTHING WILL BE GOING TOGETHER WITH THE NEW OWNER*****
Thanks for looking (go on, you know you want to, the wife will understand !)
